Thank you for posting this article by Fr. Joseph Wilson. You saved me the trouble of going to Google and finding it myself. In this whole mess, Fr. Wilson has been one of the few priests willing to lay it on the line. His latest article was about the "eunuchs" that we have for shepherds.

Let's face it: it doesn't look good for Fr. Groeschel when he blames the media, especially when it turns out that he was involved with some of these cases.

Before you start talking about the saintliness of Fr. Groeschel, let's step back and ask, "Isn't he the superior of the order to which belongs Fr. Stan Fortuna, the 'rapping' priest?" My teenage daughter saw him at a Youth Renew meeting, and she was very offended by the vulgarity of his performance.

If we are willing to blame the superiors of liberal orders like the Jesuits when their priests are loose cannons, shouldn't we hold Fr. Groeschel to the same standard?

I remember Father Groeschel being written about in the papers when he and Bishop Lynch were arrested for praying the Rosary outside of an abortuary. They made it look like he was a bigger menace than Muammar Qaddafi. He knows what he is talking about from personal experience. He has said repeatedly that he will not speak with certain reporters and newspapers, and I don't blame him. I have confidence in him to do the right thing and to tell the truth.

Sorry your daughter didn't like Father Stan Fortuna. My kids think he is great and very effective in presenting the bare bones message of St. Francis and the Gospel. However, neither your child's opinion or my children's opinion constitutes any grounds by which to evaluate Father Groeschel's performance as Superior of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.

If Father has something he needs to "fess up", I have no doubt that he will do it. But we will see it on EWTN and not in a column written by a homosexual pervert in Dallas, Texas.
