Ron Paul Money Bomb Exploding ($1 million @ 9:30am)
USAdaily ^ | 11/5/07 | Larry Fester

Ron Paul's presidential campaign is getting cash infusion today from grass roots activists on the internet. The activists plan to get 100,000 people to donate $100 each, boosting the campaign by 10 million dollars in a day.

Whether the goal of 10 million dollars in a day is achieved remains to be seen. The campaign as of 10 PM Sunday night had risen just under 2.8 million for the quarter.

As of Monday, 9:30 AM Eastern time, Paul’s campaign has risen over a million dollars bringing the total to over 4.1 million for the quarter.

Paul’s campaign raised over 5 million in the third quarter and had over 5 million cash on hand at the start of this quarter.

The one day fund raising push is already a success and it hasn’t shown any signs of losing momentum. Paul’s campaign had nothing to do with the grass roots effort which makes it even more impressive.

Ron Paul voted against the Iraq war and says he will bring the troops home immediately. Paul seeks to eliminate federal income taxes and wants to reform the monetary system by authorizing competing currencies backed by gold and silver.

Paul also voted against the Patriot Act and has been an outspoken defender of the Bill of Rights.

He's getting a lot of press right now (finally). It's going to be hard for the MSM who seem to have the candidates already picked out to ignore what is happening. And the coolest part is, it's grassroots - real people giving, not special interests, PACS, crooks, etc like we usually see from some candidates. I've been reading comments on YT and other places, and it's a lot of people of all ages, giving small amounts. Some people are even giving just 10 dollars...lol. But it definitely added up today.

Thanks for posting the articles. Saves me time from searching.

I’m with you. I don’t care if someone gave a dollar, it means more to me as a supporter of RP than some lobbyist, PAC, etc funneling him 100K dollars. As I posted earlier, I just wish Hillary hadn’t tapped into all those rich chinese dish washers, waiters, line cooks and busboys. Those guys could afford donating the maximum amount and it would have been more money to RP.

Exactly what giving is suppose to represent, true grassroots support.

This may be America's last chance to field a candidate that actually wants to govern by the Constitution and does not consider it a relic.

This election will be in the hands of the 18-21yr olds, the ones who are going to have to deal with Social Security and the crises of America's debts.

“Ron Paul has refused the “very generous” congressional pension. So to make this kind of charge against him is rather dumb.”

This brings up a good point. Why does Congress have one retirement plan and the general public has “social security”?

Yet, they won’t allow the gp to privatize their social security funds.

You’re welcome, and I feel the same way about the money meaning more because it comes from many individuals - many who have never given to a campaign before. (and I’m glad I’m not the only one here who likes Paul, even though I haven’t even officially decided on who i’m voting for. :p)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the target for November 5th supposed to be $10 million?

They know what is good for us (crammed down our throats) so they can get something better for themselves with the money we give them.

I tried to post to him earlier in the evening. Didn’t see another post from him earlier. Guess he was just clipped.

"This may be America's last chance to field a candidate that actually wants to govern by the Constitution and does not consider it a relic."

I hate to sound melodramatic, but I agree. If Hillary gets in, I think there will be no more chances. But I am heartened to see some passion out there from people who love this country and want to save it from the direction we've been heading in.

A supporter of RP’s suggested it and posted on the fundraiser website some time ago. He pledged he would donate a 100.00 if another 99,999 donors did the same. It would raise, as you posted 10 million dollars. The pledge caught on and as the day came, some 18K, well short of the 100K donors signed up. At the end of the day, the campaign raised 4.2 million dollars. A record setting day for a single candidate on line. Kerry still holds the record at some 5.1 million after his nitwit nomination.

So yes, RP did not raise the 10 million in the one day one of his supportes proposed, but he did raise 4.2 and it is a great day for him no matter how someone wants to spin it.

So all those spambots, and paulbots and all the other wonderful and cute names people give them, went into their pockets and put their money where there support is and gave what little or lot they had and supported their candidate Ron Paul.

I for one think that is great. If you have not already given, ronpaul2008.com. Give what you can as long as you follow the legal contribution law before Hillary or Rudy take it from you in higher taxes.

Thanks for your service. You articulate my thoughts exactly in that we’ve had too many politicians pushing issues rather than ideas. Issues are poll tested (Frank Luntz) where as ideas and principles should guide the leaders of a free republic. I’ve done my part today and look forward to doing more, especially on November 11th. (www.thisnovmerber11th.com) Lets remember our Vets and what they really fight for! See everyone in Philly.

"Now his foreign policy does make me nervous though."

Don't worry too much about that. A lot can change in another year's time.

"Does he think we were supposed to do nothing when 911 happened?"

His main point, often missed by many FReepers, is that our previous actions made them so PO'ed that that attack is what the perps did to try to get our attention.

IOW; if we had a more benign foreign policy long before then, there might not have even been the attack on 9/11.

And don't forget; Cobol Towers attack, USS Cole, and all the other attacks on U.S. citizens were (according to Paul) largely the result of our interventionist foreign policy WHICH WAS SET AND INSITUTED MANY YEARS AGO BY THE GLOBABLIST NEO-CONS.

FYI: the shouting was not directed at you, but rather was simply a manifestation of my extreme frustration at the other FReepers who keep calling Ron Paul an Al-Quida sympathizer.

Not sure if yours was a rhetorical question, but the simple, short answer is; POWER.

They want power over the people.

Simple as that.

I am glad you stand so staunchly for your chosen candidate. I respectfully disagree with basically everything you have said about Ron Paul. It is true that conservatives have been discussing these topics for ages and that Ron Paul has been there all his life. But there is where it stops.

As I have said previously I agree with many of Dr Paul's statements and beliefs ... however his unwillingness to address the greatest threat to this nation at the present time, radical Islam, and his willingness to erect the walls of isolationist policy around this nation leaves us vulnerable to attack and destruction.

This same isolationism leaves us with a weakened national defense and therefore removes him from the 'old Taft-Goldwater-Reagan wing of the GOP' who stood for a strong national defense. A strong national defense can not be achieved in a vacuum. These same isolationist policies does nor reinforce our sovereignty ... it degrades it.

As far as courting him and his talking at the Convention that remains to be seen. The candidates and the Party are distancing themselves from Ron Paul and his statements to back track and welcome him with open arms would be an affront to many in the Party he has already pushed away by his statements.

The return to the mainstream conservative ideals must be accomplished, possible step-by-step slowly, by a standard bearer that all Republicans can embrace and conservative Democrats. One so radical or revolutionary in forcing our own ideals down throats will not bring us closer to achieving our goals any sooner. One who refuses to see obvious threats will not move us closer to our ideals and beliefs either.

Ron Paul is not to be the conservative standard bearer and thanks to his zealousness he can not even be an adviser to the chosen candidate and continue to reinforce basic conservative values as he has in the past.

“A celebration in his name? LOL. Well, I guess you could say that.”

lol, well it is called Guy Fawkes day, you couldn’t say it was anything but. I always thought Guy Fawkes day was one of the weirdest holidays ever, but then I am not British. I suppose if i was it would all make sense.
