Ron Paul Money Bomb Exploding ($1 million @ 9:30am)
USAdaily ^ | 11/5/07 | Larry Fester

Posted on 11/05/2007 7:26:30 AM PST by traviskicks

Ron Paul's presidential campaign is getting cash infusion today from grass roots activists on the internet. The activists plan to get 100,000 people to donate $100 each, boosting the campaign by 10 million dollars in a day.

Whether the goal of 10 million dollars in a day is achieved remains to be seen. The campaign as of 10 PM Sunday night had risen just under 2.8 million for the quarter.

As of Monday, 9:30 AM Eastern time, Paul’s campaign has risen over a million dollars bringing the total to over 4.1 million for the quarter.

Paul’s campaign raised over 5 million in the third quarter and had over 5 million cash on hand at the start of this quarter.

The one day fund raising push is already a success and it hasn’t shown any signs of losing momentum. Paul’s campaign had nothing to do with the grass roots effort which makes it even more impressive.

Ron Paul voted against the Iraq war and says he will bring the troops home immediately. Paul seeks to eliminate federal income taxes and wants to reform the monetary system by authorizing competing currencies backed by gold and silver.

Paul also voted against the Patriot Act and has been an outspoken defender of the Bill of Rights.

I can understand your opposition, but all Paul is doing is listening to the people. Personally, I would like our troops to stay for the time being, but unfortunately I don't speak for the millions of non-FReepers who want our troops to come home and stop meddling in the Middle East.

Paul supports a strong national defense and secure borders, so the notion that terrorists are going to come "over here" is laughable. We don't have the money for long-term overseas commitments.

Sort of karmic isn't it, the slanders, namecalling, etc.. turned out to have the opposite effect of their intentions.

You are so right.

I've seen the exact same thing happen to good conservatives in local races, so when I see a certain kind of accusation making its way around, I view it with skepticism and certainly look at the source. I had a very open mind, but after reading the most vile and horrific fabrications and lies, and then watching Dr. Paul speak to a group on C-Span, that did it for me! I have to say - there are a lot of us like that out here!

Designer, the reality is that it only takes a certain number of parents, immediately pulling their kids out of the public schools, to cause the system to implode, allowing market forces to kick in.

The alternative is to allow millions of kids to continue being indoctrinated into good little government sucking socialists.

The system cannot be rehabilitated. It’s finished.

Here’s the evidence:

Click the lower lefthand corner of the link below and watch Suffer the Children. You’ll know it’s over then.

http://issuesineducation.org/index.asp

If we want more children to grow into people like Ron Paul, then EXIT THE GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS! Ron Paul wants to abolish the Dept. of Education. Home schooling makes the best sense, but private school is an alternative - just GET THE POOR KIDS OUT OF THE SOCIALIST PRISONS called public schools.

(I’m not meaning to yell, btw. I’m just using all caps for emphasis.)

My support for him is because he's moving the GOP back to its traditional roots and he's restoring the old Reagan coalition. Now his foreign policy does make me nervous though. I don't think we should pull out immediately from Iraq.

It's impossible to truly move back to the traditional roots (if by that you mean early 20th century roots) of the GOP without adopting a non-interventionist foreign policy. While there have been hawks in the Republican past (see Abraham Lincoln for one) generally the stance of much of the party from the early 1900's up until Eisenhower (who deviated in a limited way) and further until George H. W. Bush (who certainly deviated from that principle in a more egregious way) was non-interventionist.

I don't fear what will happen to us if we pull out immediately. Think about it. These guys have been fighting amongst each other for centuries and beyond. If we remove ourselves out from the middle of their endless conflicts, then they will most likely begin (as they always have done) to fight amongst themselves again---thereby leaving them little time or resources to fight against us and insufficient motive for doing so.

And it will leave us with more time, manpower and resources to shore up our defenses here at home (including reversing this sometimes insipid trend of domestic base closures which have happened under both Clinton and George W. Bush). A real, formidable national defense and less incentive for enemies to attack us---sounds like the plan for me.

Gee,

I had to leave when all the bloodlust boiled over after 9/11. The authoritarianism was just shocking.

Its nice to see that abate somewhat - at least on this thread.

Go Ron Paul!!!

Free Republic was my home for quite a while. I don’t know what I would have done without you during the 2000 Florida election vote counting antics pulled by Gore’s crowd.

But the Bush administration has greatly disappointed me over and over by their globalist nature and their invasion of Iraq when Scott Ritter and everyone who knew anything were saying don’t go..... Just the idea that Americans could watch ‘Shock and Awe’ bombing like a light show with oo’s and ah’s similar to Clinton bombing TV station in Serbia or their historic bridges with humans standing on them thinking it would protect the bridges.

And coming here to discuss these issues had left my non-interventionist stance under attack constantly — then I found Ron Paul’s campaign. I’ve been a libertarian for years, reading articles about how the market can beat any agency or program ever devised by the elites in DC. Republicans used to know that.

If Ron Paul were elected president, he would bring home not only troops from Iraq, but the 65,000 in Germany (why are we protecting Europe, we can’t afford it) and the 45,000 in Japan.. same question. and the ones in Korea after which probably they would unify (and not under the system of the North). Empires collapse from monetary system failure. Take a look at the dollar and you can see the problem.

I donated to Ron Paul on the 5th! .. He takes absolutely no special interest money. Unlike Bush, he would not propose treaties that supersede the Constitution giving the UN control of our oceans for goodness sake. Its time to kick out the stuffed shirts of the status quo and put a patriot in office.

Yeah, you know I used to be a staunch supporter of Bush and the war when I was younger. I had voted for Bush in 2000. I used to be very hostile in my way towards people who dared to challenge the war too. But over the years, as I watched Bush and his cabinet and advisers and supporters and such, and as I watched the profound encroachments upon our Constitution and civil liberties, I began to change my mind. I voted Peroutka in 2004. After actually looking at more of the facts surrounding Iraq and the Middle East, I have since come to oppose this war as well.

So I guess that all goes to say that, sometimes bloodlust isn't intentional, and sometimes it can be changed or turned off. I'm glad to see more real conservative voices on this forum too. And I'm glad to see more people like me who've actually woken up and changed past wrong ideas.

All three of you had such great posts there. Reminded me of the old days at FR.

Anyway, don't go over the cliff for Dr. Paul and risk getting banned. Keep your membership here because if Her Thighness is elected, we'll need all the folks like you we can find to stop the worst of her evil plans.

It's just a little sad for our forum that an overweening attachment to some Islamic hellhole has completely subverted the broad conservative political agenda that had served us so well when we held the congressional majority. Our Congress became more attached to Bush and more afraid of Rove than they were to us and the things they pledged in order to get elected. What a shame to have thrown it away like that.

The tide on this forum will change. And it will change very quickly if Hitlery is elected.

$7.6 million and growing....if Dr. Paul reaches $10 million by the 15th of this month, he’s got $20 million for the 4Q easily, maybe $25 million since the holidays are coming up and then you got the Boston Tea Party Money Bomb coming up.

That said, I don’t understand the vehement hostility toward Dr. Paul

That's easy. He's shaking up the old interests who have bamboozled conservatives since at least 1989. We've been nothing more than cannon fodder, scared with the "vote for my guy, because he's not as bad as [x]", or "this is the most important election of our lifetime", or "if you expect perfection, there isn't any such thing." Never mind that all we ask for is someone who meets, say 60% of the requirement of being conservative.

There is an air of desperation in the hostility, and it's only going to get worse. Who is crying? The entrenched interests who stand to lose by his ascension--and it's their sheep who are bleating on here. Unfortunately, they have no impact beyond this forum.

$7.6 million and growing...

Pardon me for doubting you but I had to go check. I can't believe we didn't tap out for at least a few days.

I know, we're seeing all kinds of explosive growth, here at FR, at the RP forums and blogs, at the Meetups, you can't keep up with it. I should be smart like Dr. Paul and just keep going and not even try.

I think we may have reached Critical Mass. The collapse of the dollar, once it sinks in, is going to collapse these other candidates along with it. And our man is on the right side of the issue and has been for more than twenty years. When their stocks and 401K have lost a third, maybe a half of their supposed buying power, people are going to start thinking hard about the Ron Paul message.

In previous elections, we never had a candidate with this message when something like the S&L crisis came or some of the corporate pension-raiding scandals or the corporate bailouts. This time, there is a candidate they can vote for.

It could be amazing.

Not only that, but you have a lot of conservatives who are going to be out of jobs. With a Paul presidency, all of the objectives conservatives have dreamed of will at least be addressed, if not undertaken. People like Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily for example, who came out against Paul. Why, there’d be no corruption or “Brave New Schools” for Farah to rail against in a Paul presidency. Sadly, these people who pull the wool over conservative’s eyes every election cycle are no different than so-called black “leaders” who keep highlighting (perceived) problems that plague the black community.

Anyway, don't go over the cliff for Dr. Paul and risk getting banned.

One must risk much for the cause of freedom---even their FR membership. :)

That's a terribly small price to pay anyway if it helps us win this election. Especially since I just don't really know how many more chances we are going to get to elect real conservatives to the presidency. In my honest opinion it's a put up or shut up moment for constitutionalism in this country and if we do not make a bold, unhesitant stand for our constitution right now I fear the Constitution may be completely ignored or discarded soon.

Being banned is worth it if it means I still have the guts to take a stand for someone who's taking a stand for the Constitution and for all of us.

The rot of Roe is spreading, a cancer on the Constitution. I think many of us perceive it.

And it's not just a God-damned piece of paper either, no matter what anyone says. Saying things like that effectively repudiates any oath a person may have sworn to it upon a Bible when taking office (not to mention the blaspheming of their own oath). People go on about flag burning but this ridiculing our Consitution, the entire basis of our laws, is somehow just fine and unremarkable? It's surreal.

Our republic is in danger from feckless servants of the public trust in D.C. It's not a few of them. It's almost all of them. We can't continue to elect these rudderless captains to the ship of state or we won't have any more unalienable rights. We'll be nothing but creatures of the State whose lives and existence and fortune are disposed of at the whim of the ruling classes.

More and more people are willing to take that principled stand that you're taking. Ron Paul always has. And his record has inspired so many young people to do the same.

In 1993, when Hillarycare was in discussions, I had a benign tumor requiring brain surgery and I selected House Ear Clinic (long before Rush went there) because Brackmann saved 70% of existing hearing. After I opted to go to LA, (and had the surgery the day of the Northridge Earthquake- different story) local UNMC (Nebr) doctors followed up and changed to the LA doctor’s procedure. Competition and choices in the marketplace improve our options.

Hillarycare’s zones did not permit me to go to House Clinic and would have made me a criminal if I tried to pay them personally.

Socialism limits options and people get irritated. No one is totally satisfied and society fractures. Ron Paul understands the power of free market, free associations and individual liberty coupled with individual responsibility.

Nothing creates voluntary diversity like common dreams.

Thanks again for responding. Hillary would be horrid for the USA, but so would Rudy or Mitt because they want to run the world, too. We need a President who wants us to lead.

That's exactly what I think, and I know lots of other people are saying the same thing. I just don't see another chance like this, to elect someone who isn't just full of hot air but truly cares about the constitution, our civil liberties and our country, who can't be bought, and who is honest and dependable, with a record to prove it. And on top of that, someone who unites people, not divides people. Reagan was a uniter, but that doesn't come along very often, I think that is a very rare quality.

So I agree, I don't think there are going to be other chances like this, we're too far gone, our sovereignty and constitution are in serious peril, it has been going in that direction for years, and if Hillary or another sold-out globalist gets in, I think it will be too late. I know that many people here believe that Islamofascism is the #1 threat, and although I believe that is one of the threats, what I have been saying for many years is that the real threat to our country is the subversive move towards an anti-constitutional, statist, socialist-corporatist NWO that will eventually mean the end of America as we know it.

And hopefully I won't get banned for sharing my thoughts on this.

You know, your healthcare story would make a very compelling YouTube ad for Ron Paul. You illustrate so well what is wrong with Hillarycare and other socialized medicine plans and why Ron Paul is right about increasing competition, limiting lawsuits, and letting doctors practice good medicine without the government bossing them around.

You should consider it. We need a huge diversity of YouTube videos to fuel the campaign, to bring home the points Ron Paul makes in his speeches to the real-world day-to-day level of working families, young people, retirees, all facing the challenges of a bloated and over-regulated healthcare system.

Real life stories like yours are often very useful and persuasive for a political campaign. You see it in election after election.
