Good Evening PhilDragoo.

Thanks for the info on the Hellcat and Essex Class Carriers.

She was destroyed only a few weeks after entereing service by a single torpedo hit from the US sub Albacore which ignited fuel vapors and blew her up.

That had to be every submariners dream.

I read somewhere one of the problems the Japanese had at this point in the war is that they were using unrefined crude oil from Borneo for their boilers. The stuff was burnable but had a bad problem with vapors.
