Petition To Let the Irrigation Water Flow in the Klamath Basin of Oregon
Thank you for that suggestion, 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub!
If you'd like to call the White House and express your support for the Klamath Farmers, here are a few suggestions:
Ask for Karl Rove's office. Then ask for David Thomas in Karl Rove's office. He is personally dealing with the Klamath Basin issue. Thank you for that info, Lazamataz!
UPDATE FROM: AuntB:
I was given this information for David Thomas, the White House WESTERN rep: dthomas@who.eop.gov
cell ph# 1-202-309-1358, Office, 1-202-456-7944

Or you can call Ari Fleisher's office. A photo op of President Bush personally opening the headgates at Klamath would do more to consolidate the conservative base than pictures of T-ball on the White House lawn. Or you can just talk to the person answering the phone. There is also a White House comments line.
Above all, be polite.
You can also call your Senators or Congressman and support the Klamath farmers.

Check out the link (executive summary) that Henry refers to in the third paragraph - I just read a few paragraphs - it talks about full implementation of the agricultural agreement in the Uruguay Round. Our farmers are living on borrowed time and the implementation of CARA to subsidize farmers not to produce goes hand-in-hand with this. The feds will "kill two birds with one stone" in CARA, using conservation easements to acquire farm land and put the farmers out of the farming business at the same time:
Global Taxation Moves Closer
It kind of lets the cat out of the bag about the un, our farmers, and a few other nasty things.... you have to follow all the links, but the info is there--
U.S. BUREAU OF RECLAMATION IGNORES NORTON'S ORDER: FARMERS SHORT 35,000 ACRE FEET OF WATER
I heard a few weeks ago on the Barbara Simpson KSFO Radio 560 AM show a discussion about CARA. It is vital for all to get the word out.
