In the few short weeks since many of us came here from TOS,
old friendships have continued, new ones have been made, and all of them,
with mutual respect, care, and feeding, can last a lifetime.
And that, regardless of our political influence or any outcomes,

I have a question. I think the reason you all have such a high percentage of participants is that you all know it is going on. You are constantly in touch with each other.
During the last Freepthon in June I received a lot of E-mail and Freepmail during, and after saying " I didn't even know a fundraiser was going on.
BobJ and I have been asking JimRob to just e-mail the registrants that the effort is underway.
Jim has been reluctant as he feels he has promised to never spam the Freepers. My position is that a simple announcement about FR is not spam.
What do you folks think?
I think that if you just use the ping lists from Smoker's lounge, the Womens auxiliary , and some of the 'Community of interest' ping lists you will get most of the active posters. With a little luck, you could get them to ping their own members and you wouldn't have to.
I think the other critical thing is the bragging list we keep on the thread of who has gven how much. A man get's more interested in making that pledge now, when his friends will see whether or not he did.
Country Clubs never have trouble collecting their bills, cause if you are delinquent, they post your bill on the locker room Bulletin Board.

I think we just need to appeal to their sense of fairplay.
The key is DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY
I would bet that at least 3/4 of the names on the list are no longer in use. If it's gonna bother JimRob, or make him feel that he broke his word, then we can find another way.
Over a period of a week or so, it should be possible to get the word to every active poster and lurker without spamming the big list.

If some in the Smokers Lounge, for instance pinged everyone to remind them of the FReepathon,and then kept a list of Smokers Lounge Regulars (those on the ping list) who donated, and the total donated by the Smokers Lounge Lizards, and kept it posted in the Smokers Lounge, I think it would have the same effect as a list does here. It gives everyone a sense of being on the team.
The trick, obviously is to get a few of the members to do it themselves, without outside interference
I get so much spam, that I don't read any of it. That's probably true of most of us.
