Reno seeks revenge on Bush brother in Florida
FROM ROLAND WATSON IN WASHINGTON
An excerpt
The prospect of her candidature is worrying some local Democrat leaders, who fear that her record as the first woman Attorney-General will bring unwanted Clintonite baggage to the contest.
Ms Reno heavily outscores her Democrat rivals on name recognition, according to the latest polls in Florida, but such a lead is double-edged. She is vilified among the large Cuban population for her role in the fate of Elián González, the six-year-old shipwrecked refugee who was caught in a custody dispute between his father in Cuba and his Miami relatives. Ms Renos decision to authorise a raid on their house and send the boy back to Cuba was taken in the teeth of aggressive opposition from the Hispanic population.
She is also remembered across the nation for ordering the catastrophic assault on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, in 1993. Such episodes have some local Republican leaders keenly awaiting a Reno candidature. They point to polls taken in August that suggest that she could expect to secure the Democratic nomination, but would lose to Governor Bush, despite a slide in his popularity.
Before she can concentrate on an electoral battle with Mr Bush, Ms Reno, 63, has the Democratic primary to negotiate. Other likely contenders include Peter Paterson, a former congressman and former US Ambassador to Vietnam, a country where he was a prisoner of war.

Found this while browsing around. Looks like she is going to have some Democratic hurdles to hop.

A shaky start, eh?

You mean SHAKE instead of hop right?! LOL!!

Careful, the goody-two shoes around here will lambaste you for your insensitivity to her illness...

"Shaky" start. Ol' Shaky Herself. We would be wise not to scoff at the possibility of her gaining the Florida governorship, as the media is still smarting from the beating they took in the 2000 Presidential election. They will sabotage Jeb Bush by whatever means and in any manner they have available, for both tactical and overall strategic reasons.
It shall not be enough for the outrage to be stirred again in the Cuban-American community for things like the Elian Gonzalez kidnapping. The voters of Palm Beach, Volusia, Metro Miami-Dade and Hillsborough will still OVERWHELMINGLY give their support to the designated surrogate, regardless of competence or fitness for office. Just because the polls will be watched a little more closely, or the ballots are less confusing, or certain ambiguities in tallying the vote are clarified, does not mean that the Florida Democrat party shall then begin to play fair and obey the election laws. They have no intention whatsoever of permitting the Jeb Bush Republicans to have anything like an even break.

The "campaign" not her, you, you, bad person you! I don't think she'll get past the Demo primary.

The prospect of her candidature is worrying some local Democrat leaders, who fear that her record as the first woman Attorney-General will bring unwanted Clintonite baggage to the contest. I would certainly hope so!

Hmmmm, I wonder if she has any "burning" issues to promote.

And I didn't think Hillary had a chance in NY either. Stay alert and don't assume she can't win. We have seen it happen!
To: 1Old Pro
I don't know. But is very interesting that a big name Demo personage such as this announces a campaign and within no time there are other Demo contenders. I bet a dollar to a donut she withdraws, either for lack of funds or poor showing.

Reno's medical condition is one of many reasons no one should vote for her! I just thought the thread's title was a bit like a big fat fastball right over the plate.
To: 1Old Pro
Nah...as she always thought: mum's the word.
Or, maybe she is looking for a broom and a rug.

Not only do I bet she don't win, I bet she withdraws early. No way Demos are going to run her for governor. Not when they have a chance of winning with someone else.

No. I don't poke fun at any diseases, even for Hellspawn daughters of misbegotten demon creatures such as Reno. Her campaign is off to a shaky start. The rank and file Demos are already worried. But if she does win, look for Bill to move some of his operations to Florida.

The shakiness might be from all the time she (he? it?) spends in large armored vehicles and tanks.
JANET RENO AND SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS -- SHOWN COMING ASHORE NEAR MIAMI TO BEGIN HER CAMPAIGN IN LITTLE HAVANA FOR GOVERNOR OF FLORIDA.
IS THIS WOMAN A DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVANT?

Ouch! We need to think of a good WACO campaign slogan for her.
