"But the answer is, because the mind alone can make decisions."

So do you advocate killing those who are considered "brain-dead?"

How long would you pay to keep your
brain dead relative on a respirator?

Does the mind always make the right decision in regards to its relation to the body?

Liberty means never having to say, "I'm perfect."

In other words, if the mind "decides" to
absorb drugs that it may enjoy but hurts the body, is that
the sole "right" of the mind to make such a decision regardless of the
harm it may do to the body as a whole?

Sure as heck is.  My body, my mind.  My life.  Just
where do you think the state should enter into this decision?

Aren't you glad that this "Peace Officer"

has two magazines ready to fire?

(Maybe if he took off the mask, he could see who he was shooting at. Oh, no matter, the important thing is that his identity must be protected from "constitution fanatics" at all costs. A few dead civilians is a small price to pay for his and our "security".

"Maybe if he took off the mask, he could see who he was shooting at" Or, heck, just pulled it down enough to see through BOTH eyeholes.

(From the last thread.) If the cops had "accidentally" killed the "suspect", there would be five police witnesses that he was "going for a gun", and then drugs would be found in his apartment.

If it was a house, the "suspect" would have "set it on fire", and then it would be bulldozed four days later.

Sorry if I sound so cynial A2J, but we have seen it so often that it appears to be a new unwritten SOP.

They had received a tip from a manager of Bailey's apartment complex. The woman said a man who rented an apartment matched a photo of a fugitive shown that evening on TV's "America's Most Wanted."

saw it on t.v., gotta be true.

Actually I am just waiting for the next level when they call in an airstike on someone on the basis of a confidential informant. The guy looked close enough to the suspect that a misidentification was possible. If looking like someone becomes a crime then I guess they were justified but until positive id is made they should not be going in at 03:00 hours with automatic weapons.

Stay well - Yorktown

This is going to happen all the time as "FaceIt" digital face recognition technology comes into wide use.

The woman has got to be an idiot. I wonder if she has enough assets to make it worth his while to sue her for every penny she has?

This has been police SOP for a very long time. As much as I despise the militarization of the police, it is at least a little bit understandable.

I remember a case in Montgomery Alabama about 25 years ago in which local police planted a small handgun on a Black Man who they had shot and killed. It was later discovered that the gun had been in the police evidence locker. The resulting uproar was understandable.

I talked to several Montgomery Cops about the incident a few years later and the funny thing was that the shooting had been completely justifiable, but the cops knowing they would be attacked for shooting a Black man who was only armed with a knife, had planted the gun.

Of course I also suspect the gun would have been planted if the suspect had turned out to be a totally innocent person, shot by mistake.

As far as I'm concerned, if the town has a SWAT team, then they have the money.

FYI, all

Cobb County has Six Flags over Georgia, Dobbins AFB,
Lockheed Martin C-130 and VF-22 Raptor assembly.

It was the County that kept sending Speaker Newt Gingrich
back to Washington over and over until he opted out.  The
north part of Cobb is keeping Bob Barr there.  The paper
just announced today that the re-districting has redrawn his
Ga-7th to include 3/4ths of Cobb.

The Cobb County Commission Chairman is one of two
major Republicans running for  Governor against "Good
Ole' Boy" Roy Barnes this time.

We have a bigger budget than you might ever imagine.
One more reason I am a Libertarian.

Sorry if I sound so cynial A2J, but we have seen it so often that it appears to be a new unwritten SOP.

And we have seen it done by the klintons, and their buttboys, over stuff like treason, perjury, obstruction of justice, and general corruption. If the President can do this with a sh*t-eatin' grin on his face, and get away with it, why can't some low-level JBTs?

I don't know if the corruption flowed down, or trickled up. In either case, the end result is the same. "Nothing to see here, folks. Move along." Otherwise, the threat is "take names now, kick ass later".
