EDGAR WRITES BUSH, JERUSALEM CHURCH LEADERS WITH CONCERN ABOUT ISRAELI MILITARY OCCUPATION OF BEIT JALA Link to: Dr. Edgar's Letter to President Bush Dr. Edgar's Letter to Five Church Leaders in Jerusalem Dr. Edgar's Letter to Lutheran Bishop of Jerusalem Munib A. Younan 18 U.S. Church Leaders' June 7, 2001, Letter to Colin Powell August 30, 2001, NEW YORK CITY The Israeli militarys recent occupation of the West Bank town of Beit Jala, especially of the Lutheran church and other church properties, is the subject of a letter of concern sent to President Bush today by the Rev. Dr. Robert W. Edgar, General Secretary of the National Council of Churches. We appreciate that your Administration called for the Israeli military to withdraw, and urge you to continue to press the government of Israel to comply, he wrote. Dr. Edgar said recent events have served to heighten the need for strong American leadership as an irreplaceable factor in resolving this tragic conflict of interests and urged the Bush Administration to support the deployment of multinational observers with the aim of promoting peace, justice and security in the Occupied Territories. The NCC General Secretary today also wrote five church leaders in Jerusalem, including Bishop Munib A. Younan, the Lutheran Bishop in Jerusalem, to reconfirm the NCCs solidarity with you, your churches and your people in the struggle toward justice and peace in Israel/Palestine. In previous statements and related actions, Dr. Edgar wrote, we have affirmed our support for the rights of Palestinians, for a shared Jerusalem and for reconciliation and peace with justice in the Holy Land
. Our churches seek to be agents of reconciliation and of peace among people of all faiths, ethnicities and cultures, he continued. Therefore, with you, we will continue to urge both the Government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority to end the cycle of violence, which increasingly is destroying human lives and property and defiling holy places. We call upon both parties to resume dialogue toward the day when all in the Holy Land can live in justice and peace. -end-

I have a question ...
I read the document in the original post. That's quite a list of churches!
Do you consider all of them "apostate" and if so, what's your definition of apostate?
Thanks in advance.

What a laughing stock these Communist stooges are to the real church.
To: truth_eagle
They are morally and tangibly broke but are asking for our tax refund money!!

I first read about the World Council of Churches in John Stormer's book None Dare call It Treason 20 years ago. He said they were nothing but a communist front organization in the 60's when he wrote it. Comintern agents basically. Obviously nothing has changed.

Apostasy is deviation from one's original foundation for their belief in a religion or a political philosopy..In this case the so called Christian church who does not support the apple of God's eye should wake up real fast. If your church is a member of the WCC, it's time to take a real hard look at it.

That's quite a list of churches! Actually the World Council of Churches is way to the left of any of its so-called "member" Churches. They have never been representative of more than a tiny minority of the people in the pews.

? World Council of {Anti-Christ/Anti-Messiah} Churches judge Israel?
? On what absolute basis?
Certainly NOT THE HOLY SCRIPTURES of ISRAEL!
God has given SPECIAL Promises to Israel above ALL other nations.
"It is Written!" (Promised!)
The World Council on subjectivity should go take a 'hike'!

That is true. it is useful to remember, the NCC and the WCC are NOT religious organizations. They are not churches.
They are political organizations which survive by feeding off of contributions made by "member" churches who have been misled by gullible and not very bright church leaders.
Sort of like the labor unions in the US. They do no labor, nor do they represent the majority of their "members". But they feed off them none-the-less.
To: Cicero
In that case, how do the "real" christians act/feel regarding the Palestinian Christian minority, and the persecution these Brothers and Sisters in Christ face at the hands of God's chosen people?
Its sad that these people tend to be ignored in the debate, but they do exist, they are important, and they are torn.

He said they were nothing but a communist front organization in the 60's when he wrote it. Comintern agents basically. Obviously nothing has changed. Nothing had changed in the 70s and 80s too, when I worked as an interpreter for number of conferences and gatherings of different "World" organisations: World Council for Peace, World Council of Churches, World what-it-was for Nuclear whatsoever, World Disarmament BS and so on. The pattern was one and the same: Western fellow-travellers for frontmen (clerics, dotard philosophers - Bertrand Russell, for instance) and KGB operatives for everything else, beginning with policy development and ending with funding and logistics. Number of NGOs, so active in the UN nowadays, still recieve subsidies started by their KGB masters in the 60s!

I still don't get this "apple of God's eye" business. Do you accept the New Testament, or not?
Was Paul correct that salvation could NOT come by "dead works" (i.e. the ritual observances of Judaism) or was he mistaken?
Judaism is an honorable faith, but Jews are no more "important" to God than any other human being on the planet. And as far as salvation...well, now we're back to that "dead works" thing.
How do you evangelicals explain this cognitive dissonance?

Amazing, any so called Christian group who advocates splitting up God's covenant land must be totally clueless. So you believe that God favors one non-Christian religion--Judaism--over another--Islam--is that the way this reads?
Tell me how you come by that conclusion.

No offense, but that is heresy, not apostasy. Apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith. In other words you dont believe in Christ at all anymore. Thats a pretty stringent standard, and as messed up as some of the denominations are, few are apostate, if any.
