Are End Times Upon Us?

Many Christian Americans today are asking the question "What does the terrorist attack on America have to do with Prophecy?" After much review and prayer, I believe there is nothing in the prophetic word of God that deals with these terrorist attacks on America. In fact, I don't see America in prophecy at all with the possible exception of being included in the reference to all the nations of the world being gathered at Jerusalem (Zechariah 14:2). However, political activity that takes place in the world today is part of the "stage setting" the Bible calls the "birth pangs" which will occur before the Tribulation takes place.

One area our website does is to keep you abreast of the latest news which has a connection to the scenario of the prophetic word of God. Certainly the events of September 11,2001 are setting the stage for prophecy to be fulfilled.

As I write this late Tuesday evening, there has been no one or group claiming responsibility for these attacks. The media is reporting that Osama ben Laden is number one of the list of suspects according to the security people. It has also been mentioned that there are only a handful of individuals or terrorist groups that could pull these attacks off with the precision that it took to accomplish them. There is no evidence that it was even an Islamic fundamentalist terrorist group that carried out these attacks, but everything that has happened has the earmarks of the Islamic terrorist groups who have perpetrated these types of acts on innocent people at other locations around the world.

Additionally, acts of this magnitude most likely could only be carried out with the assistance of another nation who also is a sponsor of terrorism like Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan or Lybia. These five states are all on the list of "terrorist-sponsoring states" at the State Department in Washington. I am not assigning any responsibility for these attacks to anyone at this time, only mentioning possibilities. There is also the connection to the Islamic world as well. Palestinians went into the streets in Israel today in celebration of the disaster in America.

These events should never prevent America from standing with Israel in the conflict now going on in that region of the world. God is not finished with the Jewish people and we must stand on the side of God. God has a plan for Israel and America must stand with God's chosen people.

What should Americans do in light of these events today? First, we must pray for those whose lives this tragedy effected. Pray that God will give them strength and comfort in this most desperate hour. We must pray that God will give our nations leaders wisdom in dealing with this crisis. Christians must also go before God and confess our sins as individuals and as a Nation.

God states in 2 Chronicles 7:14: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land". God is not talking about the heathen nations, He is talking about God's chosen people. The church needs revival now more than at any time in history. Even Daniel (described by God as "highly favored") went to prayer, confessing his own sins and the sins of his people (Daniel 9:3-23).

Lastly, and most importantly, although today's news has numbed a nation and the world, it is nothing in comparison to what is planned for unbelievers during the tribulation period. Christians need to take comfort in knowing God is in charge and Christ will come back to Earth and take us out of this world before that mind numbing terrible time of judgment.

Revelation 18

1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

I doubt many will see the parallels here, but this entire chapter sure does a great job of describing yesterday's events and the news coverage, videos, and photos. Make of it what you will.
