Just heard this on ABC radio, from earlier today. England is 5 hours ahead of the east coast I think.

I believe the music for the "Star Spangled Banner" is exactly the same as the British song "God Save the Queen"

"My Country 'tis of Thee" and "God Save the King/Queen" are the two you are thinking of.

God bless the Brits. We can't throw a war without inviting them, right? Times like this you really know who your friends are.

The Amercian colonists changed the words of "God Save the King" to the words of "My Country Tis of Thee". If you listen to both the songs you can tell the music is the same.

IMHO I believe you are 100% WRONG!
The 'Star Spangled Banner' ( The NATIONAL ANTHEM of sovereign U.S.A.), is in words (lyrics), PHRASE CONTEXT/SENTENCES, and PURPOSE is NOT about 'Queens & Kings' , but is about ,the freedom/individualism/citizen rights of a FREE-REPUBLIC.

Welcome to FR...........FReeRepublic. (The 'Star Spangled Banner'..........'Stars and Stripes Forever'........family)

Not only must WE now 'Fly & Show THE FLAG', but, Also, 'SING 'the unique words/lyrics of OUR National Anthem, THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER!

SING,......"O, say can you SEE, by the dawn's early light, What so PROUDLY we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, WHOSE BROAD STRIPES AND BRIGHT STARS,.......etc."

FLY THE Stars and Stripes, and SING, our National Anthem which 'is' about THE Stars and Stripes!

The 'towers' may be down, but they have already been replaced with, THE STARS & STRIPES FOREVER!

It really did happen this morning. I heard that Old Glory has also raised on a flag pole either atop Buckingham Palace or nearby. Unbelievable. I am NOT the weepy type, but when I heard of this touching display of support from our cousins, I got a little misty. See you on the front lines, Brits!

I think this gives them the dibs on the first strike if they want it.

I'm sure there are more than enough targets to go around.

It's time to make some rubble and bounce it.

Gotta love "Them Limeys", as an old guy I know calls them with affection.

Not atop Buckingham Palace (only the Royal Standard or Union Flag can fly there), but certainly nearby.

Listen, we're all on your side here. There are services of rememberance in Cathedrals and churches all over the country tomorrow.

If war comes, we'll be right there.

Wrong. My Country Tis of Thee is the same melody as God Save the Queen.

According to BBC America there are approximately 500 Brits presumed dead in the twin towers.

It boggles the mind that the size of this attrocity is so enormous that 500 lives lost is not a headline.

God save us all.
