Laura Bush interview on FoxNews - pure class.

Laura Bush on our President, "he has a steely resolve. He is very disciplined...At the same time he has a very loving heart." She is very proud of her husband. Asks parents to reassure their children. "I do think that we've taken for granted our freedoms." "I want to tell people how proud I am to be an American."
Our First Lady looks beautiful. Her comments to Jim Angle (sp?) were calm and confident. Her eyes appeared moist, but she smiled as she talked about her husband, and her love for this country.

Laura is a first class lady and I thought George was first class also, that is until Tuesday. The spin from the Whitehouse is that they were gunning for Air Force One and the Whitehouse. The President let his staff and Secret Service dictate to him where he should go to hide. He did everything he was told to do, instead of telling all of them that he would make the decisions himself. He showed that he is very dependent on everyone. This made me think that he is not up to the job at hand. Remember that these people work for him and he should be in charge at any and all times.
If you loved your wife, or husband and they were in a hit zone would you let a outside party tell you where you need to be. The people of America also needed to see their leader at the control center of their country. He wavered at the time he most needed to be in charge.
To me the Whitehouse staff sees that terrible mistake was made, and the first spin of this administration has been put out to the public. How sad.

Rot! NO one except for a group of inhuman terrorists knew the extent of the danger to our nation on Sept. 11th. The Secret Service has one job, to protect the life of our nation's leader. President Bush was not standing around at NORAD twiddling his thumbs. He made the decision to return to the White House, against the wishes of his security team. It took FDR a full day after the bombing at Pearl Harbor to address the nation. I am grateful we have a wise man at the helm, not a pompous fool seeking self-aggrandizement and popularity at the expense of our nation's interests.

I'm not going to waste any more pixels on you. Go back to DU.

*****Assuming****** for a moment that Bush should have put his family ahead of the country (by not listening to his security advisors), I wonder if you've, perhaps, thought that Bush wanted to be in the safest possible place for his CHILDREN? My husband and I will be travelling overseas shortly, and are considering taking different flights because we want to put our children's future ahead of our desire to travel together.
Bush knew he could depend on the Secret Service to wisk his wife away to safety. It was his job to listen to the experts who are paid to protect him.....for the good of his country, his wife, and his children. (Not to mention George, the elder, and Barbara. :) )

I can understand how you are upset because President Bush doesn't follow the lead of your hero, billy and conduct his business in the press. Bill, the coward, took every opportunity to put his face in the press because that was his self-image. President Bush has more self confidence than your scumbag hero and does't have to depend on others for his self-image, I can understand why that would upset someone like you and it says alot about you as a person.

sorry, I'm obviously not as classy as our First Lady AND our President, who I'm glad was prudent in his actions

It wasn't his staff and the secret service that dictated where he should "hide". It was a plan developed after WWII that spelled out exactly what should happen if there was a devastating attack upon the United States. Did anyone know when the attacks would be over? Of course not, so what's the problem. The President was aboard Air Force One, which has complete communication capabilities. The Vice President was in the Situation room under the White House with the National Security Advisor. The Secretary of Defense was at the Pentagon War room and the Secretary of State was returning from an overseas trip. Would you have preferred all of them to hold a joint news conference in the Whitehouse briefing room before we knew that all planes were accounted for? From what I can ascertain of your knowledge of national security, that is exactly what you wanted.

Who are you, Marty McFly? You remind me of that kid in school that would fight anybody who called him "chicken". GW isn't carrying your baggage around and knows that he is more valuable alive than dead. And that he doesn't have to prove that he's not "chicken".

Your comments are about as foolish as it gets. You should be embarrassed.

I'm not a Bush fan on many topics, but he obviously did the right thing. He knew his wife and children were safe. Can you imagine the state this country would be in if the terrorist had been able to get to him.
Everyone wanted to be with their loved ones during this event. He put the security for the Office of the President ahead of his own desires. When it was reasonable to go back to the White House, he did at the first opportunity.
Bush has handled this event in a very professional and Presidential manner.

On a more serious note, this was our First Lady's interview since the attack. She is a role model for mothers, wives and women across our land. She is setting a fine example. Our President has a strong, courageous and devoted woman as his friend, advisor and wife. Many people still consider this important, that our President, under immense stress, has a stable and loving wife and home.
