Open message to Usama bin Laden:
WE ARE COMING!!
GOD MAY SHOW YOU MERCY...
... WE WILL NOT!
There is increased helicopter activity over the Pentagon, according to news dispatches.
The Exclusion Zone around the White House was larger this morning also, having been expanded by another block from the mansion.
All three close-in airports serving New York City are closed still this morning - only Stewart, in Newburgh, is accepting flights. This after ten people were arrested at Newark and JFK airports with fake pilot credentials and all of the same type of equipment (pen knives and box cutters) the original hijackers utilized.
Originally asking for a $20 billion supplemental for fiscal year 2001 (a large sum of money for a time period of about two weeks), Congress and the President have now agreed on additional Defense and Intel appropriations totalling $40 million.
Sights and sounds: For the first time since Tuesday, I did not hear fighter aircraft in the air. News reports said they were still there, however. On Metro, for the first time that I can remember since the Gulf War, I saw army soldiers board not in their dress uniforms but in their cammies.
Numerous bomb threats were called in across the Washington area yesterday. All, fortunately, turned out to be hoaxes.
While the Government is naturally silent on this, I am certain military preparations continue.
[On an administrivia note - The Daily Update will recommence on Monday, September 17, 2001, absent new major news.] For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
What is it like on the subway going into work? Are people talking about it or keeping to themselves?

FORECASTER AVILA
Please stop and think what this tragedy has cost us.
Think of the thousands of dead.
Think of the Billions and Billions and more Billions we are now forced to spend in order to recover from this catastrophe
Think of the Educational needs of our children that will not be filled.
Think of the prescription Drugs our elderly will not receive.
Think of our loss of freedom to travel and use the internet without Government controls
Think of the Depression we may suffer in our economy.
Think of the additional lives to be lost in military operations.
IN OTHER WORDS JUST STOP AND THINK BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE....................................... PLEASE
Announce a break in relations with Israel today and the healing will start tomorrow.

People were scared on Tuesday when I came home and quite talkative. Now folks are not saying anything but have this grim and determined look on their faces.
Some poll data (source: Washington Post/ABC Poll):
President's Job Approval: 86%
Is Bush doing a good job responding to the crisis?: 91%
Support of military action, even if leading to war: 90%
Support for war, even with innocents in other countries killed: 75%
Support for war, even if there are large casualties: 70%
Support for air strikes on Afghanistan if bin Laden not turned over: 85%
Nope.
I'm going to elaborate on my #6.
You, sir, ought to be ashamed of yourself and the uniform that you wore. I will not advocate this position as it allows my enemy to claim victory. There are, quite probably, over 25,000 of my fellow countrymen that are dead.
I will not tollerate any sort of nonsense that allows these people to die in vain and to allow my enemy any other option than to become part of the sand on which he treads.

There are thousands of people outside the cathedral, some with American flags, and they are participating in the service, singing and reciting the prayers. It brought me to tears.
This is the Britain of my childhood, the Britain who stood with us through two world wars. God bless them.
I know the nation is focused on NYC and Washington, DC, but please remind yourselves that the FL Freepers need your prayers and thoughts also right now. I will try and keep on as long as I can but I will tell you that Its Bacon and my area are expecting the worse weather as the storm passes as we are to the N and East of where Tampa is....please keep us in your prayers.
Chairman ... thank you ...
Morning Chair. Is there still a CAP on DC?
