Ted is giving the interview to Brit with more class than can be described in words. He has no body to bury,but he is dealing with his loss with sympathy for all the others who have lost their loved ones.

Brit knows about the heartbreak of losing a loved one. Two fine men. Ted chose the right man to talk with.

I have just returned from the Requiem Mass in La Coruña. It was the most beautiful Mass that I have ever attended. And when you get to my age Requiem Masses are facts of life. The Mass was held in the church of San Jorge (St George), which is next to the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) in La Plaza de Maria Pita. It is a large church with seating for about 600 but today, my estimate was about 1,500 people were in attendance, with the American Flag at half mast on one side of the altar. There were no other flags.

The music and choir were magnificent, and during the communion part of the service fifteen firemen in firefighting attire together with members from the Rescue Services and Police entered the church to show solidarity with their American counterparts who lost their lives trying to save the lives of others.

It amazed me to see this, all these people, very few of them American born or even Americans for all I know, in genuine grief for people of a different nationality half a world away. I have never seen so many people with tears in the eyes and even teared up a little myself to see such an outpouring of love and concern for those who died so young and so unexpectedly.

Henceforth, when you think you or your country is not appreciated remember what AC told you.
