WASHINGTON -- FBI agents soon may be able to spy on Internet users legally without a court order.
On Thursday evening, two days after the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, the Senate approved the "Combating Terrorism Act of 2001," which enhances police wiretap powers and permits monitoring in more situations.

Orin Hatch and Diane Feinstein in bed again. I predicted this and was accused of Treason. The real treason is being perpetuated by our own Senate.

Very sad. The Constitution is not a trivial, petty document to be so easily tossed aside. It is the Constitution that separates us from other countries, and makes this country the great nation that it is. I hope that once things settle down, the USSC will strike this down.

So will they keep the restrictions in effect after the "war" is over, or will they just keep on fighting the war perpetually to justify the police state?

Only those with something to hide, have something to fear. Ooops----something got chopped off.
......during war.

Really? Tell that to Jeff Pierce, the guy who spent 15 years in prison for a crime the dna tests finally proved he could not have committed. Tell that to the guys who rotted in prison so the Boston mob boss could continue his dirty work.

I have been told time and time again that what I have been posting is "not the time."
Problem is our Congress isn't waiting around. This was approved within two days. It's sickening.

We need to tell GW, that this is not an appropriate response. 5000 of our countrymen lost their freedoms in a short amount of time at the hands of madmen.
The Congress is about to do away with the freeoms of 280 million Americans in their name. This simply isn't right. And if you'll notice the only real opposition to this is from Patrick Leahy of all people.

Is it your opinion that this doesn't belong in breaking news? I did think about it. I don't think I've ever posted anything in breaking before but this is important.

Heck, we're all on the list now as it is (unless Ashcroft purged the El Reno files).

......during war. Good point, but I understand Demidog's concern. This "war" is open ended. Without vigilance, in the name of this war, Bill of Rights amendments could topple like dominos.

"Problem is our Congress isn't waiting around." That's right, it's called the blood dance.
