DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - The family of Osama bin Laden denounced the notorious Saudi dissident on Saturday and offered their condolences to victims of the terror attacks in the United States.
In a telephone interview from the Red Sea port city of Jiddah, the head of the wealthy bin Laden family, Sheik Abdullah Awad Aboud bin Laden, expressed deep sorrow over Tuesday's attacks.
"The family has previously announced its position (to distance itself) from Osama and condemned his acts. All the family members condemn all violent and terrorist acts, even if Osama is behind them," said the sheik, who is bin Laden's uncle.
Bin Laden and his al-Qaeda organization have been named by the United States as key suspects in the coordinated airborne attack on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.
U.S. authorities also suspect bin Laden of masterminding the August 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, which killed 231 people, including 12 Americans. Additionally, he is believed to have played a role in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, the 1996 bombing of U.S. military housing in Saudi Arabia and last year's attack on the USS Cole in Yemen.
The bin Laden family issued a statement in 1994 expressing its "regret, denunciation and condemnation of all acts that Osama bin Laden may have committed, which we do not condone and we reject."
Bin Laden, who reportedly inherited $300 million from his family's construction business, has lived a nomadic existence for several years. He was deported from several Islamic countries before finding a haven in Afghanistan, which has rejected U.S. demands for his extradition.
A fundamentalist Muslim, bin Laden is known to run training camps for Islamic fighters in eastern Afghanistan, and he is thought to have many followers in many countries.

Even his mom can't stand him. How sad is that?
To: kattracks
Interesting. But will they cease sending him money? Will the assist in his elimination? Words are cheap.

His days are numbered. Osama will meet his father, Allah, the Devil.

"Even his mom can't stand him."This is the type of person you get when he's "raised by a village". It don't take no stinkin' village!

If the "family" really wants to get out from under this, they've got to take care of some of their internal problems.
There is an ancient prescribed way of doing this in Arab society.

If they can track down a female of their family and murder her for "unseeming" acts, they surely could do this with Osama Bin Laden! The blood is just as deep on their hands as it is on OBL.

I'm sure they do, they have ancient ways of 'taking care' of lots of things don't they? Like circumcision for one, torture for another.
IMO, his mother is a liar, a whore, and a camel-sh*t eating crone. When she dies she can expect torture in hell at the hands of Allah, or eternity in her own sons' rape-harem of blood.

They just want to keep their assets from being seized (unless they keep all that loot in mattresses.)

What is amusing and somewhat disgusting is the number of Arabs that have came out in support of the US and against Bin Laden to cover their own butt. They surely don't want to be targeted by the forces that go after any terrorists.

Talk is so cheap. Share intelligence on Bin Laden and other terrorists with us...show us that you really care. Egypt is especially culpable IMHO.

Does anybody know whether his assets are kept in banks? If so, why have they not been frozen by now?
To: kattracks
Hi kattracks,
Hey, where is dude's money, anyway?
It would take a heck of a lot of camels to carry around $300,000,000 in cash or even stock certificates.
Get the IRS involved, hell, I can't hide $100 from them!
They'll find that bastard pronto!

His family should be deported and their assets siezed. That family is the center of the support the terror cells receive in the US.
Binladen needs to be cut off from the banking system.
To: Darheel
"....IMO, his mother is a liar,..." Whoever you are, such remarks make you no better than the terrorists. America does not need "defenders" who stoop to such low-life verbiage and violence. There is enough of that in the world. Thank God, justice does not require such out of control hatred. Quite the opposite, justice requires honesty and self control. We need to get better control of our tongues. Spewing such hate-filled filth helps no one.

Osama bin Laden is a threat to every Arab country that is not run by his brand of Islamic fundamentalism. He wants to run Saudi Arabia, and it's the USA and the Saudi government who are his biggest enemies, even more so than Israel.
