Letterman praising Guliani and Rescue workers right now. Very serious and somber. Tells story of small depressed farming town in Montana raising money for NYC and breaks down.

He was holding back tears, and then he started to cry a little. He even apologized for needing to talk about it for himself on air. Completely touching.
I love his show, and I'm crying right now.

Okay, now I'm scared. Dan Rather is holding back tears after praising President Bush!

I went to High School with David Letterman. He has some basic Midwestern values frequently trumped by showbiz values.
The Libs have a very good strategy. They can praise Guiliani every minute of every day because he will be gone soon - and a Dem will have the job. They want to draw a sharp contrast with GWB by praising Guiliani - making GWB look bad in comparison.
Matthews and Rather and others of their ilk (I love that word) have not had a change of heart about GWB. They are simply reading the polls. Wait till there's a blip and they'll be screaming about him again.

what does letterman have in that green room Im wondering the same thing. He was just saying that there will be more casualties and we may not be successful, but what if we dont even try.

He was crying because he was praising Bush...perhaps he has finally realized that he's lost his mind...

We really are in another world. Tuesday, Sept 11 changed everything about the world we once knew. Rather is being sincere.

I imagine he must be exhausted. I'm no fan of Dan, but the hours they've been keeping since this happened have been grueling. I imagine he got a break over the weekend, but if he's like me, it didn't emotionally hit me until Saturday evening. I was just stunned at first, then furious. I broke down crying for almost no real reason in the grocery store parking lot Saturday.
To: MrFred
This is one of the most compelling things I have ever seen. Dan Rather choked up talking about the rescuers. Even Dan Rather is capable of redemption, or so it seems. He said something like "George Bush is the President. Where he tells me to stand and serve is where I'll be."
And Letterman was quite impressive.
I wish I had taped it.
To: A Citizen Reporter
No he is not sincere, he seemed to recover RATHER quickly...
