Journal Entry: September 18 |
From these ashes... Luis Gonzalez September 18, 2001 |

Touch America</a href> |
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner forever shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Since there are no males in the house to ask, do you think it would be o.k. for me to e-mail my son for an explanation?
I can hardly wait for your response on that one !!! You can ask him OK, but I sure wish we would have videotape of him reading it and trying to prepare an answer. FOFL

Hey! Get thee over here and check out what's going on! You're going to love it!
My dear brother and sister FReepers,
At this, of all times in my lifetime, I would like nothing more than to be able to read these threads and reply to them. I have much I would like to say.
BUT, I cannot!
Why?
Because I am trying hard to raise the finances needed to keep FreeRepublic up and running so that we can continue to share valuable information and respond to it.
I beg you, if you have not yet donated to FreeRepublic this quarter, do so now!
If you have already donated, THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND GOD BLESS YOU, please ping your friends, and FReep on...!
I realize you are giving to lots of Relief efforts and I encourage you to do so. But we need to help FR too. Where would we be right now without it?
If you have no money, please come and bump the Fundraiser Thread.
I would really like to reach our goal quickly so that I and the rest of the dedicated FReepers who are working the Fundraiser Threads can participate in what is undeniably the most important time in FreeRepublic's history.
WHERE WOULD YOU GET YOUR NEWS FROM IF FREEREPUBLIC WASN'T HERE?<--click here

President Bush said this war will take the best of a UNITED States of America. We are NOT united. Nowhere near. Until the other 50% of US, decide which is more important, trees, fish, or our own backside, it ain't gonna happen. Not the kind of committment THIS war will take.

If you think a video tape would be good, I can call and see if he can get out his camcorder. His wife knows how to use it and then we can get her to tape it while he reads the e-mail.
You realize, of course, that I would have to send him copies of all of our posts.
I do declare, I am beginning to think that this is not such a good idea. I'll just ask the preacher!! O.K. ???

I agree with you. I have seen the most amazing cr@p in the letters to the editor section the past few days. Did you know we were attacked by these angry men because the US has no Universal Health Care? Did you know that many people don't fee secure because (former)President Clinton and (former) vice-president Gore could speak so much better extemporaneously than President Bush? I'm gonna quit reading the paper. Makes me sick.

Oh Ringy .. there will always people out there that oppose war ... always has been .. always will be .. I believe the polls say 89% are behind The President .. and I will say we are lucky this President doesn't do things by polls .. he does something because it is right ...
Yes as this drags out .. the poles will slip .. but I will say this .. this attack opened many of the liberal eyes .. make no mistake about that ..

Ringy
The polls show over 90% support for Bush.
They show 85% support for the war even if it means tens of thousands of casualties. A few thousand loons and a few dozen talking heads do not make 50%.
Congress has unanimously given Bush more power to wage war than any American President has ever had. Dick Gephardt, speaking for the Democrats has agreed to reinstate the draft if Bush wants it.
We are at least as united as we were when we won WW II. There were anti-war people then too. There were Nazi sympathizers
The country is ready, and as more and more people learn of friends of friends lost in the Trade center we will become even more united.

I am forever tired of the two faces of America. Let's go one way, or the other. I am NOT for sending our precious sons and daughters to fight, only to enable the weirdos in Oregon, California, Washington State, and elsewhere to continue their agenda to destroy our Country. If that is the way it is going to be, then, let us each cope with the destruction to come, as it comes, in our own way. THEY can hug their trees, I will hug my gun. :)

Never fear...the USA was mostly isolationists before WWII. Actually, it took a full year for most Americans to get in gear...because they had been so indoctrinated. It was not like the movies, to be sure. But, once it set in that we were vunerable unless every citizen helped...and that we might be destroyed...it happened. Then, every American male not in uniform was questioned...as to his patriotism.
To: .38s&w
Yea and these are the same people who called us on the right NUTS ... laughed at us .. well ... most aren't laughing at us anymore ... heck .. even members of my liberal family have opened their eyes ... would you believe they are now sending me emails .. saying .. did you see this ...
I would love to say ... NO SH!T .. WHAT DO YOU THINK I'VE BEEN YELLING ABOUT ... but I don't ..
And as for the Rats and the games they are starting to play .. sorry won't work .. it will back fire .. BIG TIME ..

I do declare, I am beginning to think that this is not such a good idea. I'll just ask the preacher!! O.K. ??? Excelent idea. When leaving church Sunday, and everyone is shaking hands with the preacher, just speak right up in a loud firm voice so that all can learn.FOFL

I don't hug my gun, I just keep it really clean. But, seriously, I wonder if those who gave their lives to keep our country free would have done so if they knew where we are today. We have given up huge chunks of our freedom, and those of us who want to be free are reviled by the loud-mouth leftists, who think they are so righteous.

It has seemed, to me, during WWII, the OTHER HALF of America, got on board, when Russia did.
