I'll get flamed for this....but, I'm glad the jets weren't forced to shoot down any of our 4 aircraft, because I think that's one option the terrorists were hoping would happen.
Talk about divide and conquer ... shooting down one of our own would have surely divided us!

I'm torn... and I can only imagine how those pilots must feel. To save one by destroying another?
That same day, as my husband and I were in downtown Dallas standing in the blood line, we looked up and saw two F-16s tearing through the sky - and for the first time that day, I felt like cheering. Thank God for our pilots...

Oh really, the US flyboys did shoot down the Penn. plane. How do you feel now! And, while we are on the subject, do you really believe, even for an instant, that the flyboys and their handlers did not KNOW of the Pentagon attack inbound? For heavens sake, where is your mind! For over 40 years the US Brass have been guarding against just such an event. Do you honestly believe that only on this day, the Joint Chiefs failed to protect their shrine? Or was something more sinister being pontificated on the unsuspecting public?

Dream on, my little sinister and divisionist friend. It wouldn't make a difference one way or another.

You are right, it wouldn't make a difference. Unless of course you wanted to know the truth. So you believe that just on this day, the entire united states military establishment could not protect their offices?

Regarding reply #2 I understand your feelings and thoughts. I was not speaking to NYC but to the five sided office building in VA. I am not encouraging a shootdown in any way shape or form. I am saying that the military knew of the inbound from radar and overheads (spy satellites) and always prepared for such, always. What appears as a surprise was perhaps maybe not!

Oh really, the US flyboys did shoot down the Penn. plane. How do you feel now! I think you should adhere to facts and please depart Fantasyland.

Well, at least you tried to open their eyes, Greygost. It's all so obvious. Of course they couldn't protect their own orifices. They were using them to pontificate on the public, and we all know that means exposure. Just ask yourself -- why do they call them flyboys? Why do they call them bushmen? Sheesh, do we have to stand them up in trenchcoats? Stick them next to PeeWee Herman? You drew them a diaphragm and they still don't get it.
