GEORGE PUTNAM, BROADCAST ICON, FIRED FROM KRLA
Emmy award winning George Putnam, the man who has fought illegal immigration for
thirty years on Los Angeles airways, has been fired by radio station KRLA. According to
Putnam, who called American Patrol this morning, he was fired even though he had two
years remaining on his contract.
George spent 27 years with KRLA (formerly KIEV) and built the station. He will not return
to the air. His last day was Friday, September 21.
His final comment to Glenn Spencer was, "these people are b**t*rds."
All voices that speak out against illegal immigration are being silenced.
George Putnam needs our letters and phone calls!

Don't call the radio station to gripe, do what it fears most - call its advertisers and threaten a boycott.
That's what got Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect" to lose its prime advertisers literally the next day.

Hugh Hewitt will be moving his show to 3-6 PM PDT starting 1 October. Salem is making the change. KRLA hasn't updated their
site yet.

I used to love to watch the news with George Putnam, when I lived in California many years ago. I remember him ending every news show with the words, "And the American flag flies proudly over the home of ...," and he would name a person and show a photo of the American flag flying over that person's home. I really looked forward to this part of his news program. George Putnam is a great American, and it is an outrage that he was fired. This cannot stand.

Reply to post #1: George Putnam was terminated because he didn't have the ratings. Radio above everything else is a business, and if Mr. Putnam had the ratings and could make the station money, he would still be employed.

Hugh Hewitt will be ten times better. He will actually be able to hear callers when they speak and understand 'em.
I love George, but it's time for him to head to the barn for extra hay.

In America, it's no longer permissible to question the Government about anything. Putnam questions, he has to go.

Yes, we will get to hear Hugh recite his career moves in exquisite detail... "and I went to Harvard, and then I worked in the Reagan White House, and then I worked for Richard Nixon. And I wrote a really important book on how to be a Conservative in High School"
I can't wait. That's almost as good as golf & cigars.
But there's more. We get to hear Exciting New Talents like.. Fred Barnes and Mort Kondracke. Real Grass Roots stuff there. And The Smart Guys. Yup. I'll be glued to my radio.
George at least has the excuse of being 87. Hughie is simply a boor.

Bravo. Well said. Glad to see I'm not the only one put off by self-absorbed yuppie poltroons admiring their own reflections.

Reply to post #8: You are wrong Iceberg. Putnam was bounced from his 12:00 O'Clock slot because he didn't have good enough ratings. He even had worse ratings at 3:00 PM. After he bombed out there, there was nowhere for him to go but out to pasture. He could not compete in any time slot. The problem with George wasn't what he said, or the positions he took on the issues, the problem was, that no one was listening.

Is there any chance George will land a spot on another station - - - or reconsider the offer for weekends on KRLA?
