A committee next week could begin reviewing the case of a teacher at a Boca Raton school who parents say showed their children how to cut someone's throat.
"The parent complaint that we got was that a teacher was doing a role-play of cutting someone's throat," said South County Area Superintendent Carole Shetler.
"You would certainly be horrified to learn your second-grade child had been exposed to this."
Across the district, elementary teachers were told to follow the curriculum and not talk about the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon unless students asked questions.

FWIW...Addison Mizner is regarded as the best school in the city limits of Boca Raton.
The children were curious and asked a very reasonable question about how it was possible to intimidate a plane load of people with a small knife. It is a question which any intelligent being would ask. A thoughtful teacher would tell them enough to satisfy their curiosity.
If dozens of grief counselors had been brought in to address the needs of these same children, I doubt that anyone would concern themselves with what questions the children asked or how the couselors answered. I also doubt that anyone would have a concern that not all of the counselors answered the same way.
Adults teach children about what to fear by their actions and responses. Seven thousand people were killed on 9/11 out of nearly 280 million in the US. That is a probability of being a victim of one in 40,000. A small child exposed to this event probably views the likelihood of being a victim at closer to one in ten or twenty.
Home School
This is a woman who needs mental help...she seemed to have wanted to "appeal" to the kids- as if she wanted to be perceived as "Cool." It was disgusting.
