[history]
Brussels, Sept. 26 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. chose not to call on NATO support for its retaliation for the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, keeping any military strikes outside the 19-member alliance's command structure.
At a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz didn't call for the alliance's ``one for all'' defense clause to apply, or ask for the support of other countries in striking at Osama bin Laden, whose Afghanistan- based organization the U.S. says is the prime suspect for the Sept. 11 assault.

This is the best thing I have seen Bush do. There is no point in advertising our movements to our enemies through traitors under multilaterill command. Untied Notions, this means you.

Bush is telling the world that this is our problem and we will settle it without asking "permission" from anyone. I am glad he has taken this stance. The UN must be scratching its head trying to figure out how to be relevant. I think he is also telling NATO that his administration will not support a non-defensive mission like Kosovo in the future.

NATO has been treating us like crap, dragging our President through the mud in the media, and constantly running us down for not praising their socialism. As far as I'm concerned, NATO can just get the hell out of the way because we're rolling and we won't stop due to clauses in NATO accords or the U.N. Charter, but I'll be happy to wipe my backside with it if the need arises.
See this U.N.? Same goes for you. While we're at it, we need to run the U.N. out of this country and turn the U.N. building into leased office space.

Do I detect a 'hint' that there are some NATO members that may not be trust worthy? I'd say damn near all of them. These idiots are trying to slow-roll our war effort and it's high time to cut them loose.
Excuse us, NATO, for not being the world's doormat anymore. We have an adult in charge now instead of the 50 year old adolescent that you have come to know and love.
