SONG PARODY: Beauty and the Beast (Hildebeast on Letterman)
DOUG FROM UPLAND - Song Parodies | 9-2001 | Lyrics, Doug from Upland

Posted on 09/27/2001 9:47:53 PM PDT by doug from upland

MIDI - BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Here we go again…she’s on Letterman
Vomit’s gonna fly…she had just dropped by
Straight from her pigpen

For the eyes no feast…New Yorkers she’s fleeced
It’s not hard to tell…she’s the queen of hell
She’s the Hildebeast

Evil absolute…give this witch the boot
She flew on her broom…into our front room
In her black pantsuit

Ground zero she went…photo-op event
Did she give a damn?…no, it was a scam
That was evident

For the eyes no feast…New Yorkers she’s fleeced
It’s not hard to tell…she’s the queen of hell
She’s the Hildebeast

It’s not hard to tell…she’s the queen of hell
She’s the Hildebeast

Stinking Hildebeast…stinking Hildebeast

Many chuckles; thanks for the laughs. That's actually one of my favorite songs, and it has just become even more special!

Thanks. Yeah, made 'em up tonight. Except for "Ol' Crusty," of course. I've seen that one on FR many times.

I'd like to try my hand at this doug as you make it look so darn easy. Do you begin with a theme and then find the music or does the music inspire the words?

Okay, I'll give away secrets. Sometimes I read from the news or a FReeper comment that inspires an idea. This one, however, just hit me immediately after hearing that she was on Letterman and FReepers have described her as the Hildebeast. This was the first song which came to mind and "She's the Hildebeast" fit perfectly with the number of beats in "Beauty and the Beast."

The next step was to come up with some ideas around which to build a song. Keywords were important ---- black pantsuit, broom, what she's done to New York, evil, and my own creation of "Satan's daughter." In this case, Satan's daughter because "queen of hell" because it fit nicely.

Next step is to search through the MIDI files for the song and try a few version. Some work much better than others. Many, for the same song, are somewhat different in the number of beats. So, I pick the appropriate one and keep playing parts of the MIDI over and over as I develop the song.

I can usually now do a song in about 30-60 minutes. When I started, it was taking me hours. AMERICAN PIE took over 10 hours of work.

THIS SITE MAY BE HELPFUL

Also, although I don't use it now a great deal, WEBSTER'S COMPACT RYMING DICTIONARY is a wonderful asset.

You may give away your secrets but you are too modest....nobody can do a parody better than you!

My all time favorite was the one you wrote during the loooooong election count telling Al Gore that it was time for him to go!

And hearing you lead it LIVE in Westward is a fond memory from those times which now seem so long ago and innocent before the horrific atrocities committed on 9-11.

dfu - thanks for the advice. I went through some piano sheet music to try my hand and decided I should stick to playing songs written by others. You make it look so darn easy though.
