Naked anti-war protesters in Oregon have walked down a town's high street carrying signs saying 'Buns not bombs'.
The men and women were in Ashland to protest against possible US retaliation.
A local police officer says no arrests were made and has described their protest as "garden variety nakedness".
One protester told the Ashland Daily Tidings: "We are trying to inspire a logical response to terrorism. It's a statement about freedoms. We are basically exposing ourselves to the world."
Lieutenant Mike Bianca of the Ashland Police Department says the protest was legal.
"Make love not war, I remember that saying. We do have an indecent exposure law, but it has to do with making a sexual display. It's not for general nudity. If they disrupted traffic, it could be breaking the law.
"If they caused great alarm in the community, it could be breaking the law. But garden variety nakedness is not against the law," he said.
None of the protesters has been arrested or charged with any crime, he adds.

It's going to be empty, under a lot of rocks, in the coming weeks and months ...

Ashland is a college town (Southern Oregon University) and totally liberal. The rest of us around here consider Ashland a sort of brain-free zone where knee jerk liberalism is the order of the day.

"If this was just some naked college girls, I think I could get behind that."And probably not that far behind at that!

Unfortunately, most of these hippy, liberal college protester type chicks are butt-ugly. Now if these were naked cheerleaders from UCLA....I might just listen to what they have to say.

garden variety nakednessHmmmm. I never realized there were different types of nakedness. I learn something new every day on FR!

LOL
Time to rethink your commitment to your patriotic values, me thinks. Five minutes meditation, in front of a poster of Janet Reno ought to do it for you.

described their protest as "garden variety nakedness". Certain Fruits and Vegetables come to mind, but I'll digress. I wonder what other kind of nakedness there is?

Perhaps you missed the gay pride parade in NYC this year?

Sorry--Darwin was right on in this case. For years we have been protecting the stupid from themselves and they have been inbreeding and multiplying. This is the result of government intervention in the natural process.
