A Georgia town has come up with a strange combination in response to the terror attacks -- the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer and an empty picture frame for nonbelievers. Ringgold, a town of 2,000 near the Tennessee line, decided this week to put up the new display in its public buildings to appease everyone's beliefs, or nonbeliefs, "The Atlanta Journal-Constitution" reported.
The empty frame is "for those who believe in nothing," said Councilman Bill McMillon, who came up with the concept. "If they don't believe in [the other two], they can go stand in front of it and believe anything they want to." Mayor Joe Barger added: "The blank frame is for those who we don't know who they are."
McMillon said the Sept. 11 hijackings occurred because America had turned away from traditional values, but he hopes the displays will help bring back "good Christian values," the Associated Press reported. "I can't see [how] it'll hurt," said local resident Tom Hopsopple, the "Journal-Constitution" reported. "If you don't want to look at it, then don't. In separation of church and state, we might have separated it a little too much." But the American Civil Liberties Union is looking into a potential lawsuit against Ringgold.

What an idiot. Either you believe in what he believes, or you believe in nothing at all.

Bwahahaha! I think it's funny, AND it's legal as far as I know. Let 'em stare at a blank wall! If you believe in nothing, nothing's what you get...

I have to agree. The atheists I know certainly believe in strongly in many things. Some of them even seem to have more conviction then people I know who claim to be religious.
This is just obnoxious.

You hit it on the head.
Here we have terrorists attacking us due to their intolerance
to other's beliefs..... And do we learn from it?
Naww.... We're too busy being intolerant to other's beliefs.
Thanks.

Not quite. Every other religion views Christ and his teachings very favorably. Hindus, Buddists, Taoist, and even Muslims view Christ as a great Prophet and teacher. Many religions other than Christianity study the teachings of Christ, and have integrated Christ into their own religion.

But the American Civil Liberties Union is looking into a potential lawsuit against Ringgold. Oh, we know the ACLU goons will bring all their goose-stepping forces to bear on this little town. Now they are even filing suit against a blank frame in a podunk little country town. No dissent allowed in their Reich.

Very strange. If your going to put up something for Atheists, why don't you ask one what they want. stick a note by the existing displays asking any atheists or other groups not yet represented to contact them and let them know what they would also like to see there. Otherwise I suspect most people will see this for what it seems to be, an insult. This isn't the time to be petty, if ever there is a time.

No. That podunk little country town can have as many blank frames as they want.
To: Skooz
Yes, it is. The Councilman has a point, if you don't believe in the first two, you still have a CHOICE. Isn't that what it's all about?
