[history]
You can picture them spreading out inside this mostly empty flight to San Francisco, the smokestacks and cranes of the Newark skyline looming outside their windows.
You can hear them working their cell phones, calling their friends, their offices.
For 41 minutes they waited on the tarmac to take off. Two pilots, five flight attendants and 37 passengers. Among them, four men knew they were all waiting to die.

I am completely in awe of the heroism of these Americans. Mark Bingham, Jeremy Glick, Sandra Bradshaw, Tom Burnett, and nameless others: no greater love.

Awestruck and heartbroken. No one can read this without a well of emotion. The victims were a cross-section of America. God bless them all.

in the last words Jefferson would hear from him, "OK. Let's roll." May God bless!

This is American courage.
Our enemies think we are weak and cowardly. They could not be more wrong.

Tears here.
But apart from the sadness, I am reminded yet again that Americans are bold and fearless in their determination to defeat evil, once they know the score.
In America, the citizen is the sovereign. And of course, as the sovereign, the citizen is the one responsible for the security and safety of the republic.
In this instance, 'the government' acted...but only in the purest sense of the word.
The federal and state governments were powerless to do a thing. But local government, the firefighters and police officers who gave their lives at the WTC saving others, and individual citizens saved tens of thousands of lives.
The brave Americans on Flight 93, through their selfless heroism, prevented the death of thousands more on the ground, and deprived the joyous Islamic world of the satisfaction of seeing our Capitol in smoking ruins.
My prayers and my thanks go out to their grieving family and friends.

I can't help but compare them to the wimps and cowards, the hate America first crowd that showed up in Washington yesterday to protest.
It's this bunch of garbage that these brave men and women died to protect.

I am so thankful for the cell phones on the planes. If my loved one was on that plane, that would give us peace . Just knowing that they went out fighting and performed such a courageous act.
I am in awe of their bravery. Only hope that I could show as much bravery in their situation.

they may have known they had another pilot among them, Donald Greene, chief executive officer of Safe Flight Instrument Corp. in New York. Greene, according to his family, knew anything and everything about airplanes. So tragic that Donald Greene didn't get to fly Flight 93 to a safe landing.
I am proud of my fellow Americans, beyond words.

Kids don't have to search for heros to look up to any more. THAT'S A GOOD THING.

Americans need to be reminded over and over of the defiant fearlessness of these brave Americans. God bless every one of them. LET'S ROLL.

A belated, but heartfelt, thank-you for posting this yesterday. I read it when it was first posted, and searched for it tonight to read it again. Heart-breaking and inspiring. Thanks.
