NATO: U.S. Proves Bin Laden Link
AP | 10/02/01

Posted on 10/02/2001 4:46:49 AM PDT by kattracks

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - The United States gave its NATO allies ``clear and compelling evidence'' Tuesday that points ``conclusively'' to involvement of Osama bin Laden and his Al-Qaida network in last month's attack in New York and Washington, NATO Secretary-General Lord Robertson said.

``It is clear that all roads lead to Al-Qaida and pinpoint Osama bin Laden as having been involved in it,'' Robertson said after a classified briefing given to the organization's ruling council by U.S. Ambassador at Large Francis X. Taylor.

Robertson said the allies have determined that the attack was directed from abroad and therefore covered by NATO's Article 5, which says that an attack on one member is an attack on all.

Robertson's comments come ahead of a speech by British Prime Minister Tony Blair expected to tell Afghanistan's Taliban rulers that time has run out for handing over bin Laden, chief suspect in the Sept. 11 suicide hijacking attacks in New York and Washington. It's the same warning sent earlier by Pakistan's president, and another sign that military strikes are inevitable.

Blair was to say that U.S.-led strikes will be directed at the Saudi dissident's training camps and the Taliban's military hardware, supplies and finances, aides said.

The Taliban, an Islamic militia that controls the majority of Afghanistan, said Sunday they know where bin Laden is, and that he is under their control. Previously, they had said they didn't know the Saudi millionaire's location, but they could deliver messages to him.

Saw Bush's remarks to FEMA workers yesterday on FOX. Two persons arrested in US with connections to the terrorists were directly linked to the Al-Quaida (sp?) camps in Afghanistan. The chain of evidence is complete for any legal purposes. (Not that we really need it, IMHO)

I guess us American citizens are too low on the food chain to be considered when it comes to showing evidence of a crime against us. These days, are we expected to take the word of some government institution as proof? Welcome to the new world order.

I know the Breaking News status is being somewhat overused lately, but if anything is Breaking News, this is. IMO

Grow up.

The most compelling evidence most likely would reveal exactly what our surveillance capabilities are (i.e., which of bin Laden's communications channels we can monitor, what spies and moles we have where, etc.)

It would be insane to release that sort of information to the general public.

So why don't they just release the non-sensitive evidence, you ask? Because a) there probably isn't much evidence that doesn't reveal our capabilities, and b) the evidence that could be safely released would look too spotty and would appear worse than releasing nothing at all.

Food? Have some bacon -

PORK: Secret Weapon Against Terrorism

Islamic terrorists have been taught to believe that heaven and frisky virgins await them for dying in their unholy actions.
Courage has NOTHING to do with it.

The solution?

These so-called super-fighters have a Kryptonite vulnerability, an Achilles Heel.

They will fight like beasts for martyrdom, but martyrdom will be DENIED if...

...they are contaminated with the blood and flesh of the swine.

Every US military agent must be known to coat their bullets and missiles with pig blood & guts.

Every terrorist killed in the entire world must be known to await burial in pigsh*t.

Every pilot, flight attendant, passenger should carry pepper-like pork spray to coat a would-be suicide skyjacker. Without paradise, why die?

At every airline gate, each passenger must be required to eat a meal of BACON before being allowed to board any airplane.

You refuse - you don't board! Simpler and more cost-effective than expensive, less-than-foolproof security devices - and sure to smoke out the potential terrorist every time.

Use their own beloved Qu'ran, the source of their strength, against them, and this is OVER!

Send 'em up in a fireball of flaming bacon grease!
(fuel-air mixture exploding missile packed with lard and bacon drippings)

Fatwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Funny how this evidence is shared with other governments but not with the people who pay for it; the US taxpaying citizen. Hmmm.

Plenty of US Citizens will get to see the evidence. Members of the NSA, members of the National Command Authority. Members of the military.

Perhaps you would be willing to support your country - join the military. Get a Top Secret Clearance. Put your sorry ass on the line . . . . then you to might be able to see the DETAILS.

Me. . .. been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I don't need a tin-foil hat, and I don't believe that many members of the military, or others mentioned, would go along with a cover-up or a wholesale fabrication of B_S_ just to justify military action when there was none.

Perhaps your grandfather argued against blaming the Japanese people for the work of un-named conspirators who sought to involve Japan in a war with the U.S. And the U.S. was wrong to attack Japan when we should have been seeking the pilots flying planes made up to look like Japanese planes.

Why do you need access to ALL the information?? Are you unwilling to accept the information that has already been revealed. Seems like there is an significant amount of evidence already presented . . . and it is awful compelling, even without revealing the more sensitive information.

Then there are the "peace at any cost" that would be unwilling to accept the evidence as conclusive, even if there was video tape of Osama Ben Laden training the actual hijackers . . . . these "peace at any cost" types can never believe anything good about the U.S., and never beleive anything bad about those who would seek to destroy the U.S. [Look at those who still believe that Algier Hiss WASN'T a Communist - including staff of the New York Times!!]

It was a classified briefing.
Do you have a security clearance? Yes? Do you have a need to know? No.

Actually, the reports of these confirmed links have been pretty steady in the US media since yesterday. As for a NATO briefing, I supposed you'd need a security clearance. But what more do you really need? 757s over Chicago? '

Not that I don't believe this evidence, and not that it really matters, in a way, because the bottom line is even if Ben Laden had nothing to do with this attack (smirk) he would LOVED to have been the one to pull it off, and is surely planning more, witht eh $$ and the following to do more harm, but...

NATO's claims mean absolutely nothing to me. Their mendacity is as complete as that of any militant Islamic regime or other terrorist. They have fabricated "evidence" against people for too long, and have covered up evidence, in the case of Ben Laden's disciples in the Balkans.

Perhaps we could give them the message and ask them to forward it. <];^)

The evidence is classified for good reason. As has probably been mentioned, making such information public, names and dates and locations, would endanger the security of the nation. The public does not have a need to know any details. Perhaps our grandchildren can read about it after the danger is passed.
