UNARMED MINUTEMAN?
Boortz.com ^ | 10-2-2001 | Boortz

Posted on 10/02/2001 6:15:52 AM PDT by Dick Bachert

We take you now to Jefferson (Government) Middle School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The school's mascot is the Minuteman. There's an image of the Minuteman on a wall just inside the main door of the school. It's been repainted recently. The musket that used to be in the Minuteman's hand is gone.

Principal Michael Morris took over at the school in July. He had the mural repainted. He says the mural needed a fresh coat of paint anyway. He says guns have no place in schools--and "this sends a stronger, better message about patriotism."

I think I’m going to be sick.

How does the image of an unarmed revolutionary soldier send a better message about patriotism? This country became free because its citizens were armed and willing to fight for their freedom. If anything, the revised mural sends the wrong message--the message that America's freedom can be secured and maintained without the need to resort to violence.

Ah, well. In our politically correct socialist indoctrination centers, also known as government schools, it's par for the course to teach kids that guns are bad. Never mind that guns are used to deter crime more than 7,000 times each and every day...or that armed passengers could have prevented the September 11 hijackings.

Let's continue to be aware of the threat posed by international terrorism...but we shouldn't ever ignore the threat from our government indoctrinators.

BARF ALERT. LOOKS LIKE YOU INDIANA FREEPERS HAVE YOUR WORK CUT OUT FOR YOU.

While you're at it, might want to consider changing the name of FORT Wayne: FORT Wayne conjures images of people shooting (shudder!) GUNS at other people...

Gee, when I went to high school, guns were part of school....We had a marksmanship team (.22cal), ROTC group with an on school armory containing real weapons! not just ceremonial....

During deer season most of the pickup trucks had a deer rifle in the rack for plain display (both teachers and student parking)!!!!

We practiced at a school range set up past the footbal field, a large soft dirt hill.....

BTW, this was the early seventies......

Yes.

Until 9-11, to steal some classic lines from Monty Python, we had become "...tiny-brained wipers of other peoples' bottoms" whose primary threat was to "...fart in your general direction."

When this is over -- IF it EVER IS -- we need to be on guard for a swift return to that PC/girlyman insanity.

This is what I wrote:

I am writing to express my dismay that the gun was painted out of the mural at Jefferson Middle School. Leaving aside the issue of guns, what kind of message to we send to kids that history can and should be "edited" by the government's latest fad ideas. Isn't this the same as the photo doctoring that Stalin and other Soviet leaders used to do?

Militia men fought bravely for our freedom. They could not have done so without their weapons. We should not only not hide that from children, we should amplify it so that children may know that freedom is not free, but is bought with the sacrifice of armed men and women.

Neither you nor the principal of Jefferson Middle School would be free if not for the courage of armed militiamen. You should both be ashamed of yourselves for spitting on their graves by what you have done.

This childishness will pass. Before to long Americans will appreciate what it is like to fight for our homeland.

We have enough problems now with out having to worry about what is politically correct.

My two cents worth just e-mailed:

I just read about the recent action taken by principal Michael Morris...and am stunned at the implication that the liberal paranoia associated with weapons has gone so far as to deface an image that has been associated with our freedom since before I was born.

You and those associated with your school district need to reevaluate this (unwritten) policy and make a decision that will satisfy those who live within the boundaries of your district. Unfortunately, I live in Arizona...but rest assured if I resided in your district you would be hearing from me in person. I have many thoughts about this topic, but am having difficulty expressing my rage in an acceptable manner, so suffice to say I hope you receive enough correspondence to prove to you that the socialist action taken by this principal is not acceptable to the American people!

Thanks Dick for posting this blatant revision of history by a left wing extremist pushing agendas instead of education and history!

"Principal Michael Morris took over at the school in July. He had the mural repainted. He says the mural needed a fresh coat of paint anyway. He says guns have no place in schools--and "this sends a stronger, better message about patriotism."

This clymer should be forced to pay for the cost of repainting the picture to its original historical perspective.

This clymer may be more dangerous to our country's survival than the Super Rich Mass Murdeting Arabs like Benny Laden!

Hopefully all of the good people in his community who own guns before and after 9/11 should let him know how they feel about left wing extremists revising our history to meet their agenda!

Each day since 9/11 more Americans have awakenen to the reality of this world and are buying guns to protect themselves in record numbers. Each one of these new gun owners must realize that anti America/American clymers like this principal would unarm them and leave them vulnerable to what ever criminal/terrorist wants to do to them!

(The following is an excerpt reprinted from the September 13, 1991 issue of GUN WEEK.)
2nd Amendment Interpretation

[Schulman:] If at all possible, I would ask you to take into account the changed meanings of words, or usage, since that sentence was written two-hundred years ago, but not to take into account historical interpretations of the intents of the authors, unless those issues can be clearly separated.

[Copperud:] To the best of my knowledge, there has been no change in the meaning of words or in usage that would affect the meaning of the amendment. If it were written today, it might be put: "Since a well-regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be abridged."

Good grief. Even the U.S. Mint dared to put the image of a musket-toting Minuteman on the Massachusetts "50 States" quarter dollar coin. Perhaps we should e-mail a picture of that to the Principal.

In addition to painting out the musket, this nutcase has more work on hand. The very school abuts a road named after a type of gun- Wheelock. As for Ft Wayne, it was named after Gen." Mad Anthony" Wayne who was rather adept in directing the use of the musket and bayonet, especially the later

Charles Martel said: "Even the U.S. Mint dared to put the image of a musket-toting Minuteman on the Massachusetts "50 States" quarter dollar coin. "

I carry one of these quarters at all times. When someone attempts to claim that the militia is the National Guard, one need only point to the plow next to the Minuteman and ask, "What would a soldier need with a plow? That is an image of an embattled farmer who has just fired the shot heard round the world!"
