found on another thread...
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things.
The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling
which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight
nothing which is more important than his own personal safety,
is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless
made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
John Stuart Mill

I notice that earthquake activity is begining to pick up on the San Andreas fault between Parkfield and Ft. Tejon. This after years of dead silence.
Your cheery thought for the day...

The Israelites did not war with the Ammonites during Solomon's reign because the horny king had taken a couple of Ammonite wives and built shrines to Milcom in Jerusalem for them which were not removed until Josiah saw to it many years later. The notion that all the different religions could intermarry and live together in peace praying to different gods was fallacy even then.... it laid the groundwork for disaster. At least they weren't foolish enough to proclaim that milcom and Yah-weh were the same.
The difference isn't in the worship (though there is a difference) - the difference is in the gods. Only One is the Creator God who loves us... the others are bloodthirsty imposters who want us dead or enslaved.
However, Wise King Solomon wasn't completely deluded. He did foresee a time when all the peoples could be brought together and live in harmony.... as brothers and sisters in Christ.

In response to your post #72 on the previous thread....
I'm with you Susan. I, too, sing all the time and very badly I might add but that doesn't stop me. :) This morning, just about daylight, I went for a long walk. I started singing that Faith Hill song, Breathe, ~.~ it's been with me all day, I'm still singing it. It's a great song and I love it. :)

I like a lot of Faith Hill's songs, too, when I fancy myself in love. *smile* Someone, though, please give Faith a sandwich. She's as emaciated as Ann Coulter.
