play nice, kiddies
Thank you. Um, I would like to donate my prize to some needy person somewhere. Please? LOL
Ummm, make that NEXT to last to know...
I must have missed Sweetie Palo's post on the first time through.
Palo Sweetie, you are gonna have to quit pawning off these married women, somebody may take you seriously (by mistake) someday.
It would never work with Susan anyway, she could never accept losing set after set after set. I adhere to the Powell Doctrine in sports. Overwhelming force, and a victory strategy.
See what I mean, palo? LOL

Now that is NOT a male thing, ratty! *L*
In trying to catch up on recent threads, I found the above post of yours. As I have enjoyed some of your posts, I hope that the mangled English of the one above is an indication that your reasoning--like your writing therein--was temporarily suspended in some fine Spanish Rioja. But being an ignorant and arrogant average American, I cannot let your remarks pass without comment.
First, as there is no evidence that America has threatened to violate Iranian airspace, Ill ignore that straw man which you conveniently used as a basis for your anti-American tirade. However, if you really want to have a go at an American aircraft carrier, I dont think that the fact that you are not Iranian should stop you. Perhaps common sense should.
Now as to the average American ignorance which has absolutely appalled you, it is true that we just spend our days in blissful ignorance, totally unaware of the outside world of which you are thoroughly knowledgeable. But somehow when we do manage to escape our uncivilized homeland, we do so on airplanes. Ignorant Americans who ran a bicycle shop managed to invent that mode of travel.
And when we electronically correspond, we do so on the internet using computers powered by microprocessors. Lets see now--electricity, internet, microprocessors--hmmm, I wonder who made and advanced those discoveries? Could it have been more ignorant Americans? Why we are so ignorant we believed that we could plant an American flag on the moon! Ha! Stupid Americans.
But perhaps you were thinking more in terms of ignorance when it comes to geography and language. Yes, most of us couldnt identify Iran or Belize or Somalia on the map. Even our knowledge of the English language is poor. But during the last century while educated and intellectual Europe twice tried to destroy itself, we ignorant Americans managed to find the Marne and Normandy and to say, Nein and Nyet to those who would have put all of the informed Europeans in chains.
While enlightened Europeans spent decades trying to decide whether they preferred the genocide of fascism to the butchery of communism, arrogant Americans were spending their blood and national treasure to see that neither ism prevailed. And now we are doing the same to fight terrorism, another ism that threatens your enlightened civilization and our freedom to be ignorant here in the back woods.
Yes, AC, we do suffer from arrogance born of ignorance. But I would contend that such is the lot of a free people in a nation of immigrants: English and Welsh, Catalonian and Basque, Hindu and Jew, Thai and Czech, Christian and Moslem, Pakistani and Kenyan, Chinese and yes, even Iranians. They are all here. They are all Americans. We have all their flaws. We have all their perfection. We take them in and we become them and they us: arrogant and ignorant Americans. But quite frankly, arrogance born of ignorance seems to me to be far more desirable than the ignorance born of arrogance that seems to cloud the judgment of many in your neck of the woods.
Ohhh????
Tom,
We do use those interogation techniques. Ask the Russian Spetznatz troops who also used them against the Afghan Mujahadeen how effective they were? These people really will die to keep a secret. The Russians were as skilled at this in 1980 as we are today, they had no success. You are just wrong about how easy it is to get the information.
They would have to be insane to advertize their presense by killing anyone unnecessarilly. That is one of the first rules of reconisance; don't do anything to attract attention.
The world wide pursuit is going on. We have people working in every country on earth to locate the terrorists there and keep them kocated until it is time to deal with them.
You are acting like a child of Clinton. You want things to happen now, and then you expect to be told about them so you can get off on it. We may not see ground troops till spring: that's how long it took in Desert Storm. These people beat the Soviet Union, their next door neighbor, like a gong when it was at the height of it's power. This is far more difficult than Iraq or Viet Nam.
