The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic.com invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us with their families and friends at Lafayette Park in front of the White House this Saturday in a show of support for our troops, President Bush and the U.S.A.
This peaceful, patriotic display requires but one thing: American flags. Please bring as many as you can carry for yourself and others (big, but not car dealer big :-) to wave and display with pride.
We want to see the park filled with red, white and blue so that those working in the White House, and our friends on Pennsylvania Avenue, will get a huge morale boost. The more flags, the better !
We have not sought a permit for this as this is not a formal demonstration with speakers, etc. It is just a simple call for patriotic Americans to come and spend the afternoon in the park and picnic with their families.
If you wish to carry signs showing your support, you can walk in groups of 24 or less on the street in front of the White House. The D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect: No violence, no provocations, no profanity, no racism, obey the law and respect law enforcement officers.
When: Saturday, October 13, 2001 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Where: Lafayette Park in front of the White House.
Weather forecast: Mostly sunny, temps in the 60s and low 70s.

Dave Dilegge, of Conservavets.org, will be helping to get the word out to veterans. You can do this too by sending e-mails to veterans and other patriotic groups. Let's work for a big turnout for our troops and President Bush.

I think this is a wonderful, peaceful way of showing support.

Thanks. I just came from there. Lots of National Guard troops carrying scary guns with banana clips at the airport. Be prepared to take off your shoes and unbuckle your belt. (You'll know what I mean when you leave.)
