A TRIBUTE TO A PATRIOT, A MARINE, AND A DEAR FRIEND

A lot of you have already seen this tribute page because I posted the link to it on Snow Bunny and Billie's "USO Canteen FReeper Style" thread of 10-09-01, but I've had requests to make a thread so that all might see it and honor this great American and FReeper.
This is my meager effort to remember our friend, Herb Meadows, AKA CHIEF Negotiator.
A TRIBUTE TO CHIEF NEGOTIATOR - FREEPER AND BELOVED FRIEND
Herb was buried 10-08-01.

To everyone who donated to Mrs. CHIEF, thank you very much for her sake.
She is a courageous and gracious lady who would make you glad you had opened your heart and your check book.

This is such a beautiful tribute, COB1.
We were so fortunate to have had a friend such as Herb - a man with intelligence, warmth, a wonderful sense of humor and a true American Patriot.
His last hours were spent among his brothers and sisters, talking about the country's needs in this time of crisis. He was still chafing at the bit, wanting to reenlist in his beloved U.S. Marine Corps, or assist them in some substantial way.
He was a strong link in an ongoing chain.
We salute you, CHIEF - a warrior - and a Nam RECON BY GOD Marine.
You will always reside in our hearts.

Your page is beautiful, COB1. Thank you for this post.
Goodbye Chief. I pray his wife and family be healed of their grief.
To all the freepers who gave money for Chief's widow--what a loving tribute to a beautiful man whose heart was filled with kindness. It shined through in everything he said on this forum. May we all strive every day to be more like Chief Negotiator.

Thanks for the memories, COB1. Beautifully done. Rest in peace, Chief!!!!!
And by the way Chief, thank you for instigating the first TEXAS FReeper event during the summer of 1998. Thanks to you, I met many fine freeper friends that day. They came from Dallas Fort Worth area, Houston, Bryan (A&M), Lake Jackson, and many other parts of Texas. In meeting you on FR you and I realized that we lived a few blocks apart, in Nassau Bay....
As a result of that get together, our Texas FReeper list grew. We had some great parties together, especially the 1998 Christmas party. Thank you --- for some of those FReepers I met at that first event, are some of my best friends, today.
But most of all, THANK YOU for your service to OUR beloved Country You were a fine marine, a true Patriot .... Rest in Peace

Amazing Grace! Some encouraging words from Ephesians chapter 3:13-21 Therefore I ask you not to lose heart at my tribulations on your behalf, for they are your glory. For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen

"As Chief knew all too well, the BRASS system used by every Marine sniper " Also used to describe the composition of their anatomy associated with their bravery.
Thank you, CHIEF, for your service to our country and to this forum.

;-)
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing in for all of us who could not be in attendance.

Thanks, Micah.
Please help me with this one (I don't have my Bible):
"Death where is thy victory, Death where is thy sting?"
Death had no victory with our friend.
He went to a far better place than we have ever known.
