11-Oct-2001 -- EWTN News Brief

MOVING PHOTO COMPELS RECOGNITION OF UNBORN VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE

WASHINGTON, DC, (CWNews.com/LSN.ca) - During Tuesday's US House debate on the Unborn Victim of Violence Act (UVVA), a photo of a mother holding the body of her dead son was displayed on the House floor.

The photo is of Tracy Marciniak of Wisconsin holding the body of her son Zachariah, who was killed in her womb during a criminal assault. Under current federal law, if a criminal assaults a pregnant woman and kills her unborn baby, he is charged only with assault because the unborn baby is not legally recognized as a victim. Under the proposed Unborn Victims of Violence Act, any criminal who injures or kills an unborn baby while committing a federal crime will be charged with two offenses, because he has claimed two victims.

Arguing for the passage of the UVVA, Rep. Chris Smith, R-New Jersey, said, "Anybody who thinks there is no dead baby in this picture should vote for the one-victim amendment. But anybody who sees in this photo a grieving mother holding her dead son should vote for the Unborn Victims of Violence Act." (See the photo http://www.nrlc.org/Unborn_Victims/Zachariah.jpg) An amendment called the 'One-Victim' Substitute, would define the bill's crimes as having only one victim-- the pregnant woman.

In an April 24 written statement to Congress, the Bush Administration said it "supports protection for unborn children and therefore supports House passage of H.R. 503" and "strongly oppose any amendment."

If I were that criminal, I would be praying that the state lock me up - because if I were that poor baby's Mommy, I would hunt the bastard down and kill him.

If I recall correctly the devoid that did the crime was her husband at the time. And she was a few days away from delivering the child. I would not mind visiting with her ex-husband for a few minutes, in private. Just to "chat".

This was murder, just as every abortion has been murder. Notthing else to say about it. Except it ALL should be stopped!

As the baby's father or mother, it would be justifiable homicide!

You are right...

On the night of February 8, 1992, Glendale Black had a fight with his pregnant wife. Tracy Marciniak, his wife, was nine months pregnant and due to deliver their son in only four days. They had already given their son a name: Zachariah. Tracy was eager to have her baby and anxious for the day to arrive. Glendale, however, flew into a rage that night and decided that that day would never come. He killed their child.

He punched Tracy in the stomach. Hard. And then he punched her again.

Tracy was severely injured, and Zachariah began to bleed to death in her womb. She begged her husband to dial 911, but he refused. When she reached for the phone herself, he kept it away from her.

Eventually, he relented. Tracy was rushed to the hospital and delivered Zachariah by Caesarean section. He was dead. Tracy herself was on the verge of death, but was saved by her doctors.

Glendale Black was arrested. But in 1992 killing an unborn baby was not a crime. Black was convicted of assault and nothing more.

Sounds like my ex...pushed me down a flight of steps at 6 mos. pg with my daughter. Fortunately, she survived, although I spent the next 2 months flat on my back to keep her from delivering too prematurely. He got his just reward a few years ago...my daughter turned 18 and decided she wanted to find him...then we found out that he had been killed by the cops a few months prior while committing a robbery. I thank God every day for the twist of fate that kept her from meeting him.

Sorry I missed the other post. I did a search on 'unborn' and it did not show. Hope another look helps for others that missed it.

Man, this is gut-wrenching. Tears just welled up in my eyes. How can anyone "abort" such a beautiful little creature?

Killing an unborn child is mentioned in the Bible and the penalty for injuring a child in the womb is "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" In the case of murder of an unborn child the penalty is death. Let us serve that penalty on all those who kill babies in the womb or out of the womb. Let us pray for those who are about to die. In our lords name... amen.

Yes, one of them WAS my daughter - when we were on our own, just her and me, we were part of your "UN-quality of life" poverty stricken poor. She is studying opera, and she enjoys living just as much as rich spoiled brats do - but she contributes far more than they.

Say, do you have any pictures of the rich spoiled brats who think that poor children shouldn't be allowed to live?

You and I are survivors - God made our beautiful daughters for a reason, and I know that I can honestly say the very best thing that ever happened to me was this child born of an abusive man. How thankful I am that she is alive - the greatest blessings are there, waiting for us beneath the rubble of our lives. We just have to be willing to find them...

That's really beautiful.

Thanks so much.
