CNN Office Damaged by Bomb Debris Fri, Oct 19, 2001 11:12 AM PDT
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - CNN is certainly right in the middle of all the action. The cable news network's workspace in Kandahar, Afghanistan was hit with debris after U.S. forces apparently blew up a moving vehicle nearby in its efforts to rid the world of terrorism, according to Variety. A couple CNN employees and several Al-Jazeera employees were working in the building at the time. No one was hurt, although CNN declined to comment on how many employees worked in the office. Following heavy U.S. bombing of the Taliban stronghold of Kandahar, everyone in the office had sought safety in a nearby ditch. When what appeared to be a moving vehicle exploded near the building, the offices' windows, doors and one wall were all blown out. The office had previously been occupied by CNN correspondent Nic Robertson, until he was forced out of Taliban-controlled territory earlier this month. Now in Pakistan, Robertson reported on the attack for CNN, saying his colleagues felt the ground shake beneath them. The employees' identities have been kept confidential for their safety, but CNN said none of them are Westerners. It remains unclear if the staffers will be able to continue to work out of the office.

My latest "favorite stupid question asked by a CNN anchor" came tonight from Aaron Brown. While discussing the US Special Ops activities with some retired general, he asked, "So it would appear that they are targeting either people or things, is that correct?"
That brought the following response from the general, "Well, ahhh, there's not much else left."
The only thing funnier would have been if the general had said, "No, Aaron, I don't think they're after people or things. I think they'll probably target nothing at all, bonehead!"

Too bad some of this "debris" wasn't in the form of a 500 pound bomb landing between peter "I love saddam"arnett's eyebrows. Remember bernie hiding under the bed in Bagdad?

A lot worse will probably happen if they interview bin Laden. Let them just try a live interview. Kaboom!

Interesting that CNN shares a building with Al-Jazeera. If OBL comes by for an interview with them ya think CNN will tell?
