PLEASE NOTE - IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT MESSAGE:
A Government spokesman has confirmed that in order to meet the conditions for joining the Euro (European Monetary Union) the phrase 'spending a penny' is not to be used after the 31st of December 2001. From this date the correct terminology will be 'euronating'.
This is English humour... You first need to know that 'spending a penny' is slang for performing a certain important physiological function. It comes from the fact that public pay toilets cost 1d years ago.

1d = 1 dime? [just kidding!] I thought that this was why the Isles were always so green [ducking]!
Don't ever dare put the Irish REPUBLIC in the British Isles, if ye don't mind. To many forefathers died, and anyway, the Brits have no goddamn sense of humour *L*
Put it this way, if someone asks me am I a Republican, they ain't askin' me am I an American Conservative *LOL*
Shouldn't that be a *NEWSFLASH* that they'd actually grown a sense of humour, if that is the case *L*

Since decimalisation the abbreviation 'p' is used instead of 'd'.

The ladder is longer but the bottom rung is closer to the ground.
It's not so hard to see where Gerry bin Adams will be targeting his campaign in 2002.
Those who like a little light 'relief' might like to take advantage of Dr Paisley's facilties at Martyrs Memorial Free Presbyterian Church in Belfast. His followers are known as the Free Ps!
Many of our car parks have a sign which says 'P Free' and our drunks take the message literally.
The Irish REPUBLIC is now usually called Ireland and it remains part of the British Isles, formerly known as the isles of the Pretani.
