C-Span Says Books on Florida Recount Not Selling! (DUmmies Also Whining About Olson Book Success)

Brian Lamb said on C-Span this a.m. that the "Accidental President" by David Kaplan and "Too Close to Call" the new book by Jeffrey Toobin are at the bottom of Amazon's list in sales!
He mentioned this after a caller said "Gore won Florda," which was off topic to what the call-in discussion was.
If you care about the recount buy at least Toobin's new book and if you can afford, it buy both! We will all be very disappointed if Tweety's new book makes it to #1. I am already depressed that Barabara Olson's trash book on the Clinton's is #2 on the New York Times bestseller list according to Larry King last night.
If these books don't sell it gives the media another excuse to just keep saying "Bush won! Get Over It" and we will never get election reform.
It's not Unpatriotic for us to keep attention focused on the Florida recount so that our votes will count in the future.

I checked and as of a few minutes ago, Toobin's book was ranked a mere #9343 in sales on Amazon. This represents a FREEFALL plummet from its rank of #126 just last Friday following a NY Times book review about it.
BTW, I got a chuckle over how rattled the DUmmies are over the success of the Barbara Olson book.

Pardon my ignorance, but who are they referring to as "Tweety"?
To: PJ-Comix
They're such adorable little punks, aren't they? It's so cute watching them scurry around, like the rats they are, desperately seeking some shelter from the bright light of reality that has hit the country since 9/11/01.

People aren't interested in fiction these days.

It has been reported, repeatedly, in liberal media that Gore LOST two key demographics in FL: (1) women; and (2) senior citizens. So, to find out that these books are not selling hardly comes as a shock. C-SPAN should have called the psychic hotline first.

Some Freepers have flamed me for posting stuff from the DUmmy site but, as evidenced by this post, I think it is quite instructional to have a look at their collective psyches (and also amazing that they are so easily demoralized).

I agree it can be quite instructional to post articles others may find "inflammatory," if that word applies here!

The market for such books is always going to be small.
Gore fans don't want to read a book whose theme is how Bush out foxed our man. Bush people don't want to read accusations that a political supreme court put him in office.
If is like writing a book about how a losing team lost the super bowl becuase of bad calls by refs. The losers don't want to read it, it just makes them angry. It makes them feel powerless. It makes them feel that they can't ever win. The losers don't like that feeling so they don't buy the book. The winners don't want to hear that the game was stolen for them by bad calls. So they don't buy the book either.
Publisher publish such books not because they think they will sell, but to effect how the election or game is remembered in history. The only object of the book is to put an asterick by the results in the history book. Only publishers who are political activists or huge football fans of the losers publish these books. The problem the books present for Democrats occurs if Bush is very successful. They had not counted on that possibility. It is one thing for Bush to do well based on a landslide victory. It is a bigger thing for Bush to do well with only a razor thin victory behind him.
The Democrats are angry for two reasons. The books don't sell and the historical result of their being published may very well be increased stature for the Bush legacy.

A terrific book about the Florida elections is AT ANY COST by Bill Sammons. Barbara Olson's book THE FINAL DAYS also is a great read.

Good Re-con work Mr. Comix. It's always helpful to have field reports from the Other Side.

They reviewed this book in last Sunday's Buffalo News. The reviewer of the book was the paper's editor and vice president Margaret Sullivan. She called the book "significant and entertaining". She also implied that Gore took the high road while Bush was ruthless. I had to choke back the vomit. I'll let you know when she reviews Olson's book.

I don't mind reading DU stuff here as long as it's clear where it came from. I've been lurking over there for some time now and it seems that lately they have lost a lot of moderate liberals from their ranks.

As someone who picked up a quick bonus via a football box pool, I think I'll do just that!

I went to Barnes and Noble to buy Barbara's book and it's back ordered by 40,000 copies. I ordered on Amazon, but don't know when they'll ship it.
