Thursday 1 November 2001

ISLAMABAD (Out There News): The Taliban government has allowed Pakistani volunteers to enter Afghanistan to fight alongside its forces facing Northern Alliance troops north of the capital Kabul. "We cannot stop Muslims who wish to defend Islam," Taliban envoy to Pakistan Mulla Abdul Salam Zaeef told reporters at a briefing here on Thursday.

The Pakistan-based Tahreek Nafaz Shariat Muhammadi (TNSM) (Movement for the Enforcement of Islamic Laws] had mobilised as many as 15,000 men to travel to Afghanistan to fight against the United States-led coalition and the opposition Northern Alliance. However, the Taliban authorities refused entry to these men, saying that they were not needed for the time being.
The TNSM leader, Maulana Sufi Muhammad, then traveled to Afghanistan and met Taliban officials, after which the Taliban allowed TNSM volunteers into the country.
In reply to a question, Zaeef ruled out peace talks with the United States. "They have themselves slammed the doors of dialogue," he asserted.

He denied American assertions that US forces were only targeting military installations in Afghanistan. Wednesday's 'savage' attacks on Paktika, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Bulkh and other areas of the country left 21 innocent civilians dead and a large number injured, he said.
B-52 bombers hit an International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) hospital in Dand, Kandahar, destroying the hospital and surrounding houses and killing and injuring innocent civilians. At least 12 houses were completely destroyed in Baloch and Balini villages in Nangarhar province and many more partially damaged, he added.
He said the American planes have raided the Kajaki dam, which is one of the largest dams in the country with a capacity of 27 million cubic meters. The dam was producing 150,000 kW electricity and irrigating 150,000 hectares of land with 75,000 families as beneficiaries. This was clearly a public utility and away from any military establishment, he said.
In reply to another question, he ruled any differences among the leadership of the ruling militia. We shall stand united. The American military campaign has united us more than ever, Zaeef said.

Our satellites and UAV's can track them like ants marching to their nests. This is great!

They originally didn't want to admit them, but with the recent severe losses on the front lines, it seems they now desperately need them.

Wasn't it just the other day, that the Talispin was saying they DIDN'T want these folks?

Apaprently, the carpet bombing is achieving its desired response.......the complete and total decimation of the fighting ability of the Taliboom.

15,000? What about the other Islamic extremists would be terrorists marching and demonstrating in Pakistan? Let them all join too. Pakistan should encourage them to join. Pakistan is better off without them. The world is better off without them.

Hmm... now I understand. They are going there to join for Ramadan month long fast.
Probably they think USA will stop bombing during their religious month so that they can plan more attacks in cover.

I actually think Musharraf is using his cooperation with us as an excuse to clean house in Pakistan.

It would be very beneficial for him if 15,000 militants opposed to his rule were to disappear in a US carpet bombing.

Pakistan allows militants to cross border into Afghanistan in order to fight America (who it's not really friends with.)

Pakistan President had already ordered the closure of Pak-Afghan border. He can't publicly say now that he is allowing Pakistani to join the Taliban to fight against America.

He also wants $100/month in aid for all non-nationals there. At that rate Bill Gates might be #2 before long.
