USO Canteen Freeper Style 11-06-01

USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

Tet68 sent me this beautiful portrait of a little Vietnamese girl he photographed, along with the words he wrote. He said I could post it here.

No light of laughter shines
in those dark eyes.
War and hate have worked
their cruel deeds.
You say, "Why should we be
in Viet Nam?"
I answer, "Look in those eyes,
and tell me why not."
~~Tet68

And THIS adorable little boy in the grown-up uniform grew into the Freeper we know as "T'wit". He is pictured here as a Sailor in the Canteen's first photo, and also in his own uniform on the Veteran's thread.

Hmm ... haven't found a uniform for me yet, I see. If it'll make it any easier, my "duty uniform" was always civies.

Nostalgia, ain't it great? If all you ladies still look like your photos, and I still looked like I useta, I wouldn't know where to go first.

Better go get some more coffee before I embarrass myself.

An Eye Witness Account from New York City, on a cold day in December: A little boy about 10 years old was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold. A lady approached the boy and said, "My little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in that window?" "I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes," was the boy's reply.

The lady took him by the hand and went into the store and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her. She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with a towel. By this time the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes. She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, "No doubt, my little fellow, you feel more comfortable now?"

As she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by the hand, and looking up in her face, with tears in his eyes, answered the question with these words: "Are you God's Wife?"

Portland Oregon, 10,000 take in veterans tribute
Ross Perot and Miss America Katie Harman lent the star appeal for the evening.

More than 10,000 people - including Miss America and Ross Perot - jammed Portland's Rose Garden Monday night for Milwaukie High School's annual tribute to veterans.

Giant American flags hung from the ceiling, and a chorus of 1,500 students from more than two dozen high schools sang patriotic songs. Teen-agers even re-enacted the famous flag raising at Iwo Jima.

While the tribute touched on battles from the Civil War to Desert Storm, the September 11th attacks against the United States were an undercurrent to the festivities.

Perot and Miss America Katie Harman lent the star appeal for the evening.

Perot, the keynote speaker, said the event was the type of glue the nation needed to keep itself together. Harman, the Gresham woman who became Oregon's first Miss America, sang "America the Beautiful."

I FORGOT

The recent events of Tuesday, Sept. 11 have brought death and destruction and sadness to so many people around the world. But It DIDN'T HAVE TO BE! Why is it, that all of a sudden we come together as a nation? Why does it take a tragedy of this magnitude to show our solidarity? The pictures from TV of complete strangers hugging each other in the streets of NYC brought tears to my eyes! For one brief moment in time we were truly a nation of one! All racial / ethnic / religious barriers came down! Blacks and whites helping each other Jews and Christians hugging and coming together! Why are we not ALWAYS like this ???? And HOW could we, the strongest country in the world let this happen!
Simply because WE FORGOT! EXACTLY WHAT THE TERRORISTS WANTED!

With everything that is happening in America today, all the new gun laws that our socialist politicians are attempting to pass, the problems in Klamath Falls with the ESA wanting to protect fish instead of America's farmers, the UN kicking the US off of the Human Rights Council, the U.N. vote to add Syria as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, Agenda 21, the New World Order, and on and on. It's just too much to think about for one man.

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: declared a holy war against the US, I thought, what an idiot, then, I FORGOT!

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN AND HIS BUDDY, HEZBOLLAH: attacked the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983 that killed 241 Americans, I thought This sucks! THEN I FORGOT

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: bombed the Jewish cultural center in Argentina in 1994 that killed 95 people, I thought, oh my God this guy should be stopped! But then, I FORGOT!

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: Bombed the World Trade center in 1993 (the first time), that killed 6 people and wounded over 1000, I thought to myself how horrible! Then, I FORGOT!

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: Admitted to the 1995 bombing in Riyadh that killed 5 US servicemen, I thought, OH my God, what a tragedy! THEN I FORGOT!

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: Had his terrorists attack the USS Cole (DDG-57) while it was refueling in port in Yemen on October 12, 2000. 17 sailors were killed and over 30 were injured in the bombing, I thought we need to stop these guys before they kill any more Americans. THEN I FORGOT!

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: Was named in the June 25, 1996, terrorist truck bombing in Dhahran that killed 19 U.S. airmen, I was outraged! THEN I FORGOT!

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: bombed the U.S. Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania in 1998, I thought it was so sad, then, I FORGOT!

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: Was prevented from a plot to hijack 12 planes in one day in Algeria, and blow them up, I thought GREAT work FBI! THEN I FORGOT!

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: This past February, renewed his threat of a "jihad" or holy war against the U.S. and, in speaking to an Arabic newspaper, bin Laden said, "We had thought that the Riyadh and al-Khobar blasts were a sufficient signal to sensible U.S. decision-makers to avert a real battle between the Islamic nation and U.S. forces, but it seems that they did not understand the signal." I thought to myself this guy must be stopped! THEN I FORGOT !

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN: Sent his "punk ass" henchmen to fly airplanes into the Word Trade Center, killing what will probably be over 10 thousand people, and THEN fly an airplane into the pentagon and kill (NO MURDER) someone so close to me, I PROMISE YOU, I WILL NOT FORGET!

NOW! ITS F*&%&$ing PERSONAL!

Please, Please, Please, if you are reading this, don't look away when they show the airplanes flying into the buildings on TV, look at it over and over again !! Don't stick your head in the sand! Remember how despicable the act was, remember the loss of life, don't shield your children, use restraint, but help them understand it, and remember it! They are our future! You will go back to work, and resume your daily duties, but, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DON'T EVER FORGET!

I assure you the terrorists around the world are counting on us to! AGAIN! I fear the next time we will see a mushroom cloud on our beautiful horizon! Then it will be too late! All because WE FORGOT !

Maybe one of the reasons we won WW 2 , was because everyone.............................REMEMBERED PEARL HARBOR !

______________________________________________________________________________________________
There are American sailors and soldiers on ships, in aircraft and on the ground fighting to keep America safe. These servicemen and women don't want to be fighting the Afghans. They would much rather be home, like us with our families, our husbands, our boyfriends, our girlfriends, our wives and children. At night we sleep safely in our homes because of them.

President Bush is wrong! Don't go back to "life as normal"
Don't Forget who is protecting us, AMERICAN military troops!

Before you go to sleep, everynight, say a prayer that they will be able to avoid the dangers of WAR and come home to us, so that we may thank them.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

All Americans:

Keep this picture in your mind forever and the attack on the World Trade Towers, the death of those men, women and children will stay personal forever! When you get a peacelover whining in your ear, this is the cure. Six posts from the left, in the middle of the picture you see someone holding an infant out of the building trying to give it fresh air. These folks are all dead now. Keep this atrocity personal forever! Do not listen to the whiners and weepers about the civilian casulties that our pilots accidentally cause. Remember foremost the six thousand plus civilians who died in the attack on the World Trade Center Towers. This terrorist attack was an intentional mass murder of innocent civilians. So tell Reuters or CNN can go somewhere else with their 'sad stories'!

Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part in a school play.
His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.
On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school.
Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement. "Guess what Mom," he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me: "I've been chosen to clap and cheer."

I have, in the past half hour or so, ordered the Steve Vaus double CD, "Timepiece". With this order, which is a double CD for 29.95, you receive a free single of *Eagle Above the Ashes*. There are only limited numbers, and I am presuming y'all are aware that his renditon of *The Star Spangled Banner* is possibly the most moving I have ever heard.
That is STEVE VAUS, TIMEPIECE. His best patriotic songs, 22 of them. Heard on Rush, Quinn, and elsewhere on Conservative Talk Radio, I'm sure. He put these out himself because pop stations were nervous about playing music that refers to G-d and Country, Good and Evil, and The Patriotic Spirit. Time Warner, who originally had him under contract in 1992, dropped him, because although his single, *Take America Back*, made it to the top 55 on the charts in 15 days with very little airplay, those were the days of Cop Killer, clintonista rhetoric, et al. They kept the insane, and shot Steve down. He has been recording his music since 1992 with no label behind him.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE! PLEASE. He says you can copy and distribute it to as many people as you would like to have it. I paid for it. If HE can do this on his own for us, US, it is a small, small price to pay from those of us who care.
You can order by calling:
1-800-201-7892, Extension 57.

THERE’S AN EAGLE

(This is a free download site for THERE'S AN EAGLE.)

We are not strangers, To a battle We know that freedom, Has a cost We may be bloodied, But we’re unbroken Despite the darkness, We are not lost

For there’s an eagle, high above the ashes Close by the flag we’re fighting for There’s a brave new spirit in America United forevermore

We turn to God, For strength and comfort To hold us closer, Than we’ve ever been We pray for guidance, Through the tempest

Then we see, A sign from Him There’s an eagle, high above the ashes Close by the flag we’re fighting for There’s a brave new spirit in America United forevermore

The eagle’s soaring higher Than he ever did before As he leads our fallen heroes Straight through heaven’s door

There’s an eagle, high above the ashes Close by the flag we’re fighting for There’s a brave new spirit in America United forevermore

Perot may not have star appeal, but you can't fault his Patriotism.
It's just so great to see High School students get so involved in the project, they've been doing it for 6 years now.
