What Are You Thankful For?
Thanksgiving Eve, 2001
Posted on 11/21/2001 3:11:01 PM PST by ChemistCat
The first Thanksgiving was a feast, not just a feast of food but also a feast of prayer. Most of the time, when we pray we are asking for things. We remember to say "Thank You" when we ourselves or our loved ones are spared some anticipated harm or loss, but we forget sometimes that everything we enjoy every day comes from You. The Pilgrims who shared the first Thanksgiving with native friends were grateful for having enough food that they expected to survive the winter. With that in mind, we know we can find many ways in which our lives are far more abundantly blessed.

1. I'm thankful that I have a good primary care doctor who is motivated to get needed specialists in to take care of me, and that he is humble enough not to try to appear to know more than he does.
<2. I'm grateful for a warm home, light, and heat, and a working car to drive.
3. I'm grateful that we have a President and First Lady I trust and am proud of.
3. I'm grateful to have a wonderful family, with a husband who tries to compensate for my health problems, and with healthy kids who have good hearts and high intelligence.
4. I'm grateful that my mom has finally found a surgeon who can do her knee replacement so she'll feel better.
5. I'm grateful beyond words that I have a Savior who loved me so much he'd have died for me alone if I were the only one who needed him, and who did it EVEN THOUGH with my free agency, I might have refused his gift. That is a powerful love.
6. I'm also grateful that Free Republic has no calories and no fat-grams.
I can't get to my AOL website, so I can't post a picture of my kids. That's who fills my heart every day with gratitude.

I'm thankful that I learned not to take friends for granted. I make friends easily but it wasn't until recently that I realized how really important friends are.

I am thankful for health and happiness. I am thankful to be a Christian and to have comfort knowing that God and his Son love my family and I and will forgive us our sins. I am thankful for Tennessee Football which has made me cry, but always gives me a reason to wake up on Autumn Saturdays. I am thankful I was raised a Republican! Happy Thanksgiving to all Freepers!

What am I thankful for?
My wife.
Most of my life was mis-spent running around drunk, high and stupid. When I got saved in 1981, I learned of a way of thinking, a way of life, that was very comfortable and pleasant and I felt a real urge to marry.
Having never cultivated female friends that I would like to spend my life with, The only thing I knew to do was look around in my church.
The LORD saw to it that a woman, also newly saved had started to come to church and she was just so attractive to me, I fumbled all over myself to woo her.
To my great surprise, she liked me and we soon talked seriously about marriage.
Eighteen years and five kids later, I look back at where I was and where I could've/should've been, and I have to say, Thank You Lord, for bringing Debbie into my life.
Debbie, I know you sometimes read my posts and I want to say ... Thank you for being my wife, more wife to me than I feel I've been husband to you.
Frank.

I'm really thankful it wasn't CHINA that caused 9/11. I'm also very thankful that James A. Baker knew/read/understood the Florida law better than David Boies.I am also thankful that I live in America, where I have (mostly)free speech and we have a man with 'conviction' in the White house again.

I am Thankful that there are adults in charge of America again who care more for this great country than they do about themselves, their poll numbers, or manufacturing a legacy from whole cloth.
President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Sec Def Rumsfeld, Ms. Rice, and the rest of the Team USA-- thank you.

I'm thankful for so many things it's impossible to list them all. The biggies are:
My God who sustains me through all
My daughters (even though one has not yet returned home, I know my God is with her and protecting her)
My husband
My stepson
My father
FreeRepublic and all my incredibly dear FReeper friends
The United States of America
Our President and his magnificent wife
My computer :)
Thank You Father for these and so many more!

OH! that one was so beautiful it made me cry. Please tell your wife you both are obviously a blessing to all who know you. Just imagine--if you hadn't found God when you did, there are five lovely people who wouldn't have been born!
