As we approach the day of Thanksgiving, it should be known that we as Americans have a lot to be thankful for. Whether it is through the time we have to spend with our children, eating a good, homecooked meal, or enjoying the simple things in life, it is true that our country is truly blessed.
However, despite all the good in this country, I see a nation crumbling before my eyes. A nation in which stupidity has become the norm. A nation that seems to ever-more be willing to concede all the freedoms and values that made this country great. In essence, national suicide seems to be what we're dealing with.
Despite every attempt by any patriot or Conservative, Traditionally-minded Americans seem to be losing the war, and I'm of the mindset that it's only a matter of time before we lose what's special about us. Even in the wake of the September 11 attacks, a time which seems to present the illusion that things are turning for the better, is it all a fascade, a false impression?
I will try to run you down on the issues that I think are very important for the nation's greatness and, thus, tradition to continue. Furthermore, I believe that these values underlie the greatness of our nation and, without them, it is questionable as to whether our country will survive.
Thus, without further ado, I will try to present these issues in a simple, easy to understand manner.
1)Abortion: This is a biggie. How in the world can a country founded on God, equated with God, and dedicated to the proposition that "All Men Are Created Equal" allow such barbaric acts against human life? The Constitution explicitly states that everyone has the right to, "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness". What, does the unborn not count? Are their rights not given to them simply because they are in the womb? It reeks of nonsense, and it says something about our leaders when they never speak of the issue, year after year. It is said that roughly 4,000 abortions occur every day in this country. That equals about 1.5 million abortions every year, roughly 1/3 of all babies having their lives taken. Not only is abortion morally and ethically wrong, but it is also a form of national suicide. It not only kills off a significant chunk of our population, but it gives the haters of America a scapegoat for allowing hordes of illegal aliens into our country to justify the ever-burgeoning social state. This, in turn, results in more social programs, higher taxes, etc. I think you get the drift. Murder, overall, is wrong, and killing innocent babies in cold blood should not be tolerated. Everyone has the right to Life, or so says the Constitution.
2)Taxes: While a small amount of taxes may be somewhat justifiable, these should lie within state and local governments, not in the Fed. Every year, people go to work, slave all day, never to get ahead, for what? To make ends-meet, so that the value of your labor can go to some government bureaucrat who will give himself a payraise, and then stab traditional America in the back through the proposal of increased government programs that delegitmize traditional morals and values. Increased taxes, through the passage of more government programs, do not in any way correlate with the Founder's Vision of a government with limited powers.
3)Political Correctness/Revisionist History/Anti-Western Bias: It is ridiculous how we, as a nation, have allowed the media, university professors, etc. to sway the people into various methods of speech, for fear that we may be insensitive. Usually, this does not involve wanting to condemn vulgar speech, but merely speaking in reference to common sensical points about various issues, often when dealing with diverse groups. For example, it's okay to call white people, "trash, rednecks, backwards, etc.", yet to give equal balance to people of color or different ethnicities, to do so would be insensitive and racist". It doesn't even have to be a verbal slur, but a mere indication that you agree that there are different characteristics abour different types of people. How absurd we have become. While verbal slander, in the form of slurs, is wrong, and totally not worthy of being condoned, the mere hypocrasy in the pick-and-choose of what terms are correct is equally disgusting.
4)Liberal Attorneys/Supreme Court/Lawsuits: The judicial system has become so corrupt that real change is kept from happening because of greedy Attorneys who twist, bend, slander, and lie about the law, and the truth the underlies it. The Supreme Court is equally corrupt, and has been hijacked by Anti-American "Justices" who twist the Constitution's meaning to guarantee the "rights" of anyone to murder, fornicate, lie, and cheat without having to face any punishment for their actions.
5)Radical Homosexuals: Yes, the flamers, fairies, etc. who continue to push their degenerate lifestyle in the faces of normal, decent people who don't wish to be inundated with their smut. These include those individuals who slander good, honorable organizations, such as the Boy Scouts, for upholding their moral code, and those who wish to brainwash the youth of America to their cause through the use of the Leftist media and anti-American organizations. Most Americans do not want to hear about your lifestyle, could care less about what you do behind closed-doors, but who do not wish for you to expose them to it, nor force them to accept it through appealing to school boards for a Homosexual-based curricula.
7)Illegal Immigration/Immigration Numbers/Visas/Work program, etc.: Illegal Immigration continues onto this country like a tidal wave. Our officials know about the flood of non-assmilating individuals into our country, and the social programs, through illegal means, that are enticing them to come here. Yet, very little is being done or said to stop the balkanizing of America. As more and more come to the U.S., it is becoming increasingly obvious that many of them have no respect for this country, nor do they plan to assimilate. This is a place for making money, nothing more. Meanwhile, American citizens are forced to foot the bill through higher taxation to pay for the increased numbers of Illegal Aliens who are applying and receiving government handouts in the form of free healthcare, education, welfare, etc. This does not include the fact that many of them end up running native-born Americans out of their jobs as employers hire them, again through illegal means, while the INS, police, and government sit back and say, "what can we do". On the other side of the aisle are the attorneys who have taken to representing illegal aliens, and who are fighting for the balkanization of America, and who know the intimidation that is put into government officials for fear of the media calling them a bigot or Xenophobe. Meanwhile, in regard to the high-tech field, hordes of visas are permitted to allow less-skilled tech workers to act in the displacement of American workers. It is known that there are many specialized high tech trained Americans who cannot find a job in their field because they have been forced out by visa-held aliens. Yet, the press continues to say that we have an applicant/job-pool shortage. I sense some lying. Of course, there's corruption a mile-deep in relation to big business and immigration, and their ties with the government. Thus, such corruption, despite pleas from American citizens, is allowed to continue, all the while chunks of our country begin to look like a foreign land.
8)Abuse of Federal Power/Anti-Constitution: This is in regard to the government's abuse of power in its attempt to restrict private property rights. Of course, the Klamath Falls ordeal is a prime example of the Authoritariaism that continues to sweep this land. Other abuses include President Bush's new Homeland Security Division (protect the border through more border patrol agents and, or, troops and by taking away the economic incentive, and the majority of the problem is solved), Patriotic Act, etc. Other past abuses include calls by several representatives for increased gun-control, despite the fact that we have a 2nd Amendment which protects that right. The Founders realized that without an armed citizenry, Authoritarianism, Totalitarianism, and abuses of government power would not be curtailed, and it would lead to the loss of freedom.
9)Moral Decay; Television, Pornography, Prostitution, Drugs, etc.: This is probably the most contoversial of areas among "Conservatives". I say "Conservatives" because support of obscenity is not a Conservative viewpoint, as much as one tries to claim that it is. The Founders did not imply a right to free speech in regard to obscenity, such as in the case of pornography and prostitution. Thus, obscenity in these extreme cases should be banned, whether you believe it is right or not. They are social ills, and condoning these behaviors says that such action is inherently okay. It, thus, leads to a breakdown in the family unit, resulting in increased numbers of divorces, broken families, demoralized individuals and, yes, less Conservative and Republican in their thinking. It breaks down the thought process of what is right and wrong and, thus, the truth that there is an absolute right and wrong is brought into question. This belief is then transferred to other issues, and true freedom comes under assault. The whole basis is that a society without God, and without true morals, is a society without true Freedom, and this will bring me to my last topic.
10)Ashamed of Jesus?/One Nation Under God?: Throughout American history, our country has come to power as a nation that has inherently built its foundation on God. Songs, our money, historical documents, etc. equate this country's freedoms, along with its greatness, all the result of the divine mercy of God. Jesus Christ, God's Son, the Savior of the World, was spoken of regularly on the Congressional floor in the 1700s and 1800s. His name was used in the writings of many American icons. However, as time went on, particularly within the last twenty years, we have lost a sense of who we are, and why we have had many blessing bestowed upon us. That is, we have seen as God, and particularly the name of Jesus, has been attacked on occasion after occasion by lawyers, politicians, etc. who have a twisted agenda, all for personal gain. We have been told that we have no right to pray in school, that student-led prayer is not okay, that prayer should not be allowed on school grounds, etc, and yet they call such limits as abiding with the Constitution. How ignorant one has to be of America's history to make such a fallic statement. America has prospered because of its belief in God, because of its sense of purpose in God, with Jesus leading the way. However, as we have gotten away from God, our country's moral structure is collapsing, and with it will go the inherent belief in absolutes. With the death of absolutes goes many principles this nation is built on, and with that will come the death of America. God will not be mocked, and history has shown us that.
In one word, liberalism.
Why bother. With such blatantly unconstitutional legislation asked for by Bush (anti-terrorism) and given by the Congress, who needs the constitution at all or any extreme interpretations of it?
It's a dead letter.
Personal testimonials are enough for me to wan't to see the Taliban gone but er I personally have not seen one piece of convincing evidence to convict Laden,or that the Talibans replacement won't be another bunch of clowns we regretted helping ten years hence-and we're dealing with people that hold grudges for generations, the world can look forward to having the ship blown out of it for some time by the US, youre right all nations rise and decline and how they behave at the height of their power determines their later fate.Someone will exact a heavy toll at a later date but a nation driven by a black consumer heart is more likely to self destruct under financial crisis rather than terrorism, thats why they went for the twin towers a financial target, they're not as stupid as many here make out.
I don't know what to say, except that I agree with you. I'm a seventh generation American. In the early 1800s my forebearers came from the UK and Germany.
All were accountable for their own actions in life. One of my great... uncles was accused, and convicted of horse stealing; he was hanged. In the late 1800s, my great-grandfather started a business which is still in business today. During the the Great Depression, he gave thousands of dollars to the soup kitchens in NY, built a hospital in NJ. Rumor has it that he was a little "titched in the head."
In those days, if you earned a X number bucks a year, you got to keep it.
Mothers stayed home and cleaned house.
The children went to school and learned how to read.
If a child got out of line, he was paddled.
Neighbors helped neighbors in times of need.
The gov't was on the back burner and was not as intrusive as today.
People who came to America believed it was a privilege, not a right for a handout.
Those who served in the military were revered and respected.
Today, this country is sick with political cancer. Shortly after the September 11th attacks, my wife and I were determined to find an American oasis, far away from cities whose lifestyle do not reflect the Goodness of America.
We bought real estate in a small town where parents and schools encourage Pledging Allegiance to the Flag, and The Lord's Prayer is not villified by the ACLU.
As we approach the Autumn of our lives, we are concerned about our children, and the possibility of them having children. Our postulate to them now, is to NOT have children... Just let the Davis blood-line die.
Warmest regards,
Mark and Karen Davis
On that day America will start to regain her character - of course whether she survives(?)...well...that's a whole 'nother story!
I, myself, am a 24 year old man, who is witnessing destruction of America from within, and from outside. I'm sick of what the left has done to America, and I often go off on tangents that the boomers brought this to our land. I know that's not correct, but I experience a lot of the same frustrated feelings that a lot of people my age know all too-common.
Again, thank you, and God Bless You.
What you are feeling is the "contempt" every young generation feels for the generation that preceded them. Your kids will feel the same contempt for you at 24 as you feel now I can assure you.
As a boomer, I happen to agree with you...however,it all started when my parents generation believed all that Dr Spock crap and created a generation of [mostly] spoiled brats who were never held accountable for their actions...and you can see the results of that to this day (clinton is the ultimate poster child example). Add to that all the judges who re-wrote the Bible and The Constitution during the 60's and 70's...and you will see that the "Greatest Generation" actually has quite a rotten legacy...sorry to all you folks over 70, but we have to go back to the starting line to see where we went wrong.
The boomers (including me in my youth) took advantage of the freedoms this great country has to offer and trashed them in the name of "feelings".
We need more 24 year olds like you...because only your generation can save us from ourselves.
Fine, fine, we feel your pain. Don't you feel better now.
Way back when I took Latin in high school. In the 3rd year (Cicero), we were studying one of the great orator's speeches against the depraved aristocrat and revolutionary, Catiline. In this speech, after discussing the revolting details of Catiline's perversions, Cicero cried out 'O tempora! O Mores' (Oh the times, oh the morals). Our teacher took the occasion to remark that Cicero was just like people in the 1950's, afraid of the collapse of the younger generation. In this sense, she was in agreement with you.
But what she forgot is that his 'Free Republic' was not to live even as long as he lived, before Mark Anthony had him executed.
