November 26, 2001 -- New details from the cockpit voice recorder of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in Pennsylvania, suggest hijackers intentionally flew the plane into the ground after passengers revolted, it was reported today.

At 9:57 a.m. on Sept. 11, the voice recorder picked up the first sounds indicating passengers and crew members had charged the cockpit, Newsweek reported.

I kept wondering when I first heard about it on the 11th why the pilots would let them into the control seats to begin with. I for one am relieved that something like this will never again happen in the U.S. That is, wait half an hour before taking a stand.

I don't think there will even be a need for the passengers to take a stand. I've spoken with a friend who's an MD-88 pilot. He says no one unauthorized is getting into his cockpit without an antigravity device. He wasn't kidding. He said you can roll an MD-88. He's ex-military, so he knows how to execute violent manuevers, and he plans on bouncing a highjacker off of the ceiling a few times.

If you see someone trying to get into the cockpit, STRAP IN TIGHT!

>>why the pilots would let them into the control seats to begin with

I thought the bad guys created a distraction (murdering a flight attendent) and lured the pilot out of his seat?

The 93 heroes will be a major part of American History. They should make room for them at Mount Rushmore.

if it is bogus, I suggest you contact www.airdisaster.com and inform them of it! It is an official tape from Cleveland Air Controller, based on the .wav file audio.

The rules changed on 9-11.

Before 9-11, pilots were instructed by their employers to go along with hijackers should they gain control of their aircraft to minimize risk to the plane and passengers. At worst, they might spend some time at some unintended destination airport before being allowed to fly back to the US.

Now the chances are pretty good that they're all gonna die anyway -- either by flying into a building or -- because the flightdeck crew cannot be trusted with a handgun lest one of them accidentally shoot an innocent passenger while defending the cockpit -- being shot out of the sky by an F-16 KILLING THEM ALL!! (I GUESS ONE MUST BE A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL FOR THAT TO MAKE ANY SENSE!!!!)

Since 9-11, if I'm on a flight and someone stands up and announces he's hijacking the plane, the SOB is gonna DIE BEFORE HE EVEN GETS TO THE COCKPIT DOOR!

I'm not a government official, and shooting down a flying missile to save innocent lives on the ground makes complete sense to me.

The tape could be marking on Eastern Standard Time. After all, people don't set their watches by flight recorders sealed in the tail of the plane. The controller on Daylight saving.

Or as Petey Jennings, ABC "News" said that President Bush ended his speech with, "Let us roll".

Rush replayed that several times and said, "It's LET'S Roll!!"

Since you are NOT one of the geniuses in government, address for me the government's rejection -- so far -- of arming pilots (mostly ex-military with extensive weapons training!) so that they might PREVENT THE AIRCRAFT FROM BECOMING A MISSILE IN THE FIRST F**KING PLACE!

Even better. Get him before he finishes tying the knot on his red bandana.

They both mean the same thing, dude. "Let's" is a contraction for "let us" just as "we'll" is a contraction for "we will"...

Well, one is a quote from a dead American hero, quoted correctly. The other is some pompous, arrogant, high-school drop-out trying to sound profound. I think that is what PO'ed the previous poster.
