(CNSNews.com) - It's President George W. Bush's recession, it stems from his tax cuts, and don't blame it on the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Any questions? Just ask the Democrats, who are preparing to roll out new political ads criticizing Republicans. Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairwoman Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) told USA Today the time is right to make an issue of "George Bush's recession." Lowey said the Democrats' new ads will focus on the Republicans' attempt to roll back the alternative minimum tax on corporations, according to a report in Friday's newspaper. The theme will be big business benefits while the working man suffers through layoffs. USA Today quotes a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, who called Lowey's comments "despicable."

If the Rats are relying on the report that says the recession began in March 2001, then they must agree that the last recession ended in March 1991 as also stated in the report. Therefore, the recovery they claim for Clinton should actually be credited to George Bush, the elder.
And do they really think we are so stupid as to accept the claim that Dubya caused this recsssion during the five weeks he was in office before it began? And how can tax cuts CAUSE a recession, anyway?
I wouldn't worry to much about this attempt at finger pointing. I doubt it will go anywhere except with people would never vote Republican anyway.

Most people are smart enough to know the truth, that the slowdown began about 6 months before Bush was even elected, due in part to Greenspan's mistaken belief that prosperity causes inflation and his tampering with the interest rates to slow the economy. He was successful. Of course that won't stop the DemoNAZIS from screaming their lies from the rooftops.

You can always count on the RATS to do the right thing.

Most people are smart enough to know the truth... They may be smart enough, but most people do not think critically enough. So, if the DNC says it over and over and over again without sharp, consistent, thorough, reasoned reaction from the GOP in media and in print over and over, the Dems will win this perception war like they usually do.

While I agree with your statements, no way are the American people "smart enough" to understand this. The
vast majority of Americans and economic idiots.
The interesting things here are: 1) How will the GOP proactively disarm this. And 2) How will the public react to their President, the one of an 89% approval rating, being attacked in a time of war.

Not surprised. But mention anything negative that happened between 1992 and 2000 and they will say "He's out of office, get over it".
The Dems also take credit for the economy during that period. I would not want that type of credit. Why?
25 Tech stocks drove the market up, and those were the ONLY ones profitable. Out of over 5000 stocks. NONE were attributed to the Clinton economic policies.
The market was a bubble. It was over inflated.
Personal debt and bankruptcies reached an all time high.
Would I be proud? Not really. I would be embarrassed my policies didn't do something to solidify what was going on.
When Clinton left Office, did everything he did (or didn't do) END on January 20th?
Of course not.
Remember September 11th. The Legacy continues.

Too bad for the Rats. Methinks that America has "moved on" from such partisan and untrue attacks and this may backfire. We'll see....

Didn't the market peak in March 1999? Let's see, that was after Greenspan raised interest rates for the umpteenth time, and Al Jr was moaning about how low oil prices (at the time) were a bad thing because Russa would be unable to pay off their debts. Add to that the attempted theft of the election, Clinton's meddling in the mid east and it's obvious ....IT"S ALL GEORGE BUSH'S FAULT.
The sad truth is most of the non-thinking will believe exactly that.
Oh well, democrats will lie surely as spring follows winter. Republicans need to refute the lies immediately rather than let them take root as they have in the past.

I think this DemoBlitz will go over like a lead balloon...we're in a different world than we were pre - 911.
Cynthia McKinney ended up only kicking her own ass.
Leahy had to rapidly backtrack on his attitude toward tribunals.
My take, FWIW, is that most people are not going to react well to the Dems spouting "we're all in this together" out of one side of their mouths, and "Bush is destroying the country" out of the other side.
To: Frumanchu
Like this is any surprise...No, not a surprise but the Republicans need to adequately response to this developing campaign issue.
The letters to the editors are already stating that the Republicans and Bush are responsible for the bad economic news of this last year.
To: Frumanchu
This will be seen by the general public as a mean spirited attempt to attack President Bush. This will backfire big time!
Yep. And, some of their followers actually believe 9/11 wouldn't have happened if Al Gore had been in his rightful place (the White House).
