"Bump List"

JB, The link above is a listing of topic pages with numerous postings. You might want to bookmark it. What happens when one posts a reply to the "Bang_list", is that the URL for the thread one is presently reading is placed on the "Bang_list" topic page. No one gets "bumped" per-se{sp?}. Only by taking a look at topics of interest on the "Bump list" can anyone see what's new. If you want to post to a bunch of FReeperd, you must create a list of your own of people who might be interested in the stuff you aer and/or post. Keep the list in an accessable file and copy and paste it in the "To" section of the reply format. Have fun. I JUST learned the difference recently. Peace and love, George.

Now for the big question:

How do you get added to some of the lists?

B, The next time you see a ost with the whole "TO" filled with periods following, and you're interested in the subject, just ask the sender. Peace and love, George.

Found this old post to ask a general question to the group re a WWII all-original 1944 Colt .45, not mint but nice.

Guy (who I trust - so far) is asking $1400. Says is valued that or higher because it is unmodified. That feature is important to me as I will probably only run 20-30 rounds through it ever.

If someone would be so kind to bump somone in the know I would be grateful. Thanks

"Guy (who I trust - so far) is asking $1400."

FL, You need to find out ALL of the details about the gun. Who actually made it, serial number, everything you can. THEN, you either need to talk to a reputable{?} collector, and/or get a current copy of "Gun Trader's Guide" published by Stoeger. My 20th Edition lists the folowing. The prices vary radically. Peace and love,George.

U.S. Government Model 1911
Colt manufacture......................................$  845
North American manufacture...................  8500
Remington-UMC manufacture..................   995
Springfield manufacture...........................   875
Commercial Model, M1911 Type...............   995

U.S. Government Model 1911A1
Singer Manufacture...................................$ 9275
Colt, Ithaca, Remington-Rand,
Union Switch manufacture........................   610
Commercial Model, M1911A1 Type...........   595

As far as I can Figure, this copy was printed in 1997.

Thanks George for the $ info.

After a little searching I found that in 1944, COLT, ITHACA GUN, and REMINGTON RAND were the only manufacturers, and thus this is not going to be a SINGER "find" (only 500 made).

Apparently 1400 may be a little high. For what it's worth this guy said that recently prices on these older guns have gone up for collection value, and that the barrel had been redone. Again anyone's thoughts would be appreciated. I am not a handgun expert and all I have is wheelguns at present.

IMO, take the $1400 and buy two Kimbers. Put one away for your grandson. Shoot and enjoy the first, and carry it (almost) everywhere.

Actually I went and looked at the 1911 again and then passed on it. Thanks for the suggestion on the Kimbers as I am now looking at a .45 Kimber Ultra Carry. But right now just looking.

I have the Kimber Pro Carry, and I love it. The only disadvantage to it is the bushingless barrel b/c replacement barrel parts can only be obtained from Kimber. I'd recommend getting one of their 5" barrel models, which take any 1911 compatible parts. If you are going to carry one, I'd recommend the new Ultra Ten, which is a high-cap (10+1 .45ACP rounds) polymer frame carry model.
