timetable in Senate is after November, 2002. Tom Daschle will not allow any votes do everything possible to obstruct anything submitted to the Senate other than the Railroad Retirement Bill and must therefore be removed before the Senate will be allowed to vote on it. This is a big win for W - most everybody had written him off on it.

he's not waiting until after the elections - he's not going to let it come to a vote, period. Thus, what I'm saying / joking, is that it'll take Republicans taking back the Senate before any bill is voted on that Tommy Daschole doesn't wholeheartedly endorse.

I guess this is still a good victory for W though..

very big victory - it'll be something Daschole thinks about, W holding & sticking it out, when he (Daschole) considers further delays on the DoD authorization.

I can't believe it?! I thought sure GWB would lose on this one! Great news. Thanks for posting it.
To: Lady In Blue
I know I sure was hoping he would lose on it. The Democrats will enjoy this power in the future much more than the GOP. Just think of the mess when another likes of Clinton takes office. Yea go team we won!!! But what? A subverting of our Constitution perhaps?
To: George From Brooklyn Park
Bad news for us.

What is this bill?
To: cva66snipe
Exactly, buddy. These airheads would cheer Bush if he managed to push through a bill to disarm all of us. They remind me of Clinton's mindless cheerleaders, and speaking of Clinton, this was something that Clinton wanted desperately and the GOP managed to block. Now that Bush wants it, it suddenly becomes a great idea.
What a bunch of ninnies.

any idea where we can find a breakdown of the vote? I want to see which Republicans voted against it and which RATS voted for it. I'm really happy the President won this one. I do know one thing. One congressman stood up and said, "I voted against this bill when clinton was president because I didn't trust him. I trust President Bush so I'm voting for it." I loved that.

If this is fasttrack, I hope it falls flat. IT's a bad bill.
To: Dan from Michigan
Although they haven't taken it up yet, the Senate actually supports fast track pretty strongly, and when they do take it up, it should have a much easier time passing there than in the House.

I think I read that the Senate is supposed to take it up early next year.
