Tora Bora Said Captured, No Sign of Osama Bin Laden Last Updated: December 07, 2001 12:15 AM ET
KABUL (Reuters) - Anti-Taliban forces have captured the main base of Osama bin Laden in the Tora Bora mountains of eastern Afghanistan, but failed to find the Saudi-born militant, a military spokesman said on Friday.
"The last and main base of Osama in Tora Bora was captured last night," Mohammad Habeel, a spokesman for the militarily dominant Northern Alliance, told Reuters, adding that there had been fierce resistance as the assault was pressed home.
"Our troops led by commander Hazrat Ali said that we have taken almost all of Tora Bora and its main caves. We have staged a mopping up operation to clear remaining parts of Tora Bora."
He said Arab family members, including women, had been captured, along with weapons and vehicles, but there was no sign of bin Laden, leader of the mainly Arab al Qaeda network.
"Osama was not in Tora Bora during the past days of fighting and if he had been, he has probably slipped into Pakistan," Habeel said.
I had a feeling that this wouldn't be that easy, he's got more cards up his sleeve than this.

It's going to take a while to do a thorough search of the area.
bin Laden could possibly hold out there for weeks.

Totally agree. There's no way they can know for sure whether OBL is in there this quickly.

One of the best comments of the war! Bravo!

Well, it's no wonder OBL is not there, our media was saying he was there a week ago, I would imagine OBL's best defense is his portable "Direct TV" sattelite dish. We need Bill Clinton to hose another intern so our media can be distracted long enough to capture OBL before he is tipped off by these media moron's

Did you happen to see Whore-oldo this evening on Fox when they broke in to show him live? He was pointing at the sky and announcing that the B-52 above was just about to drop it's bombs - now - now- well soon - well I'm sure it's just a matter of seconds - soon - soon.
Just like when he opened the vault - nothing! It was GREAT!
He looked like the dufass he really is!

I made a bet with a friend weeks ago that OBL hasn't been in Afghanistan since we began the air strikes. The question is, where in the world is OBL? He could be anywhere by now.

Fox News says OBL is still in the area, about 30 miles away in another mountain hideout.

Mi amigo, I hope you're right! But we do need his body, however. Without his dead body, there will be more sightings of him than of Elvis.

Shoot yes. I would have built all kinds of dead-ends, false walls and all sort of things like that. Geez....and if I had millions of dollars to do it, you'd never find me.

O'Reilly was interviewing geraldo tonight (daytime in Afganastain)
asking geraldo how many special forces were on the ground at Tora-Bora.
Believe it or not geraldo said he promised not to tell.
What the he!! is O'Reily thinking??? Duh Bill "Loose Lips Sinks Ships".
