On the agenda for the December 11, 2001 Berkeley City Council Meeting is the following item:Conscientious Objection to War

Recommendation: Establish a policy that all City staff who answer the City’s general information lines will be provided with written information from the Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors about conscientious objection to war in order to advise people who call asking about issues of conscientious objection to war.

The Berkeley "Peace and Justice Commission" is attempting to have the City of Berkeley's paid government employees push the agenda of the leftist "Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors"! While there is not any more information about this item other than what is printed above, it is clear that Berkeley is attempting to encourage Americans who are considering military service or are currently serving in the military to avoid military service. This is clearly the second round in Berkeley's war against America. Is it not enough that Berkeley condemned the United States and took the side of the terrorists by passing the now infamous resolutions? Apparently not, because now Berkeley is trying to aid our enemies by undermining our military directly!
It is absolutely BEYOND BELIEF that Berkeley is going to use taxpayer money to support the anti-military objectives of the "Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors".
This group's stated goal is to: "support and promote individual and collective resistance to war and preparations for war."
Their website, http://www.objector.org, reads like a battle plan against the United States. They are trying to coerce Americans, through misinformation and bully tactics, to avoid military service, keep military programs out of schools and create an enemy camp within our own borders. They CELEBRATE cowardice and treason and feature REVOLUTION on their website!
And now BERKELEY IS ACTIVELY SEEKING TO HELP THEM WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS!
Now, more than ever, we need to make sure that Berkeley's true agenda is exposed to the world.
ACTION ITEMS
1.Call Manuel Hector, the Berkeley City Council Secretary, at (510) 981-5110 to register your outrage (it is important to remember that all public comments on agenda items become part of the meeting's record and all councilmembers are made aware of these comments.
2.Email the members of the City Council (the email addresses are listed on the BerkeleyBoycott's main page at http://www.berkeleyboycott.com) and demand that this item is rejected.
3.Contact the media to inform them of this agenda item.
4.Email or call businesses in Berkeley to inform them that Berkeley's city council is about to take an action that will cause the boycott to gain even more support and encourage them to contact the Berkeley City Council before the vote.
5.Email the Congressional representatives identified at http://www.berkeleyboycott.com/congress.htm and demand that all federal funds be withheld from Berkeley, not only as a result of the resolutions but also because those taxpayer dollars are now being used to assist a private organization devoted to harming our military. Also call or email your own congressperson with the same request.
6.Please check in to this site for further information on media exposure and the status of the December 11 meeting.

To: BowanaYou may be surprised at how easy it is to get one of the councilmembers to respond to email. I've had email discussions with all of them but the ones who respond most regularly are Maio (the i is silent) and Hawley. The thing that is most alarming is how dense these people are. I thought that they might be very bright but politically twisted people...I was wrong. They're bordering on dumb and politically twisted. But the thing that I am trying to organize quickly, in addition to media attention, is an email campaign to the bigger companies in Berkeley. My brother emailed the Powerbar company from my website while he was deployed for this war (he's in the Air Force) and told them that his unit was sending back all the power bars they had. The Power bar company actually responded thoughtfully...At this point, I think that they will put pressure on the city if they get enough flak from us about this new council action.
