Defend Immigrants' Right to a College Education
PICKET OUTSIDE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
MONDAY, DECEMBER 10
3:00 PM
(note time)
Board of Trustee Headquaters
535 E. 80th Street, by the East River
As some of you have heard, CUNY is considering DOUBLING the tuition for unodcumented immigrants in the CUNY system. The tuition increase will price thousands out of college and cost CUNY at least $5 million a year in revenues. And it is nothing compared to the human cost. A lot of these "undocumented" immigrants have been living in this country since they were young children brought by their parents from othercountries. CUNY will be destroying students' chances to develop their minds and pursue their dreams if we don't stop them!
This is being organized by students at City College among others. It is really important that students from all NYC schools come out to show their support and solidarity with these students. It is especially important that students from private universites like Columbia and NYU come out and protest. All CUNY students are under attack right now as a 15% budget cut is being passed and students and professors continue to feel threatened to speak out against the war, budget cuts, and racist attacks on immigrant students. See you on Monday. Word-of-mouth mobilizing is going to be crucial. The Board plans just to have a quiet little discussion on the budget (including huge cuts). They don't even plan to discuss the attack on immigrant students -- justas they sent out their "purge letter" just before Thanksgiving, now they are having their meeting right as exam time begins. We need to mobilize protest NOW!
Already signed up on this short notice are CCNY Prof. Bill Crain; Ronald B. McGuire, attorney; Jose Schiffino of UNITE Local 169*; Mexican American Students Alliance; BCC Revolutionary Reconstruction Club; NY Taxi Workers Alliance; Hunter African Students Union; Hunter Caribbean Students Union; Hunter Colombian Club; Hunter Dominican Perspective Club; Hunter Hostos Puerto Rican Club; Hunter Indian and Pakistani Club; Hunter Palestinian Club; Internationalist Group; Freedom Socialist Party/Radical Women; Committee for Workers Self-Defense; Workers to Free Mumia. (*organizational affiliation for identification purposes only)
Please make sure you come, bring your friends, and let us know what you can do to build this crucial protest.

This is why I don't take the government seriously on the subject of immigration. The object is not to THROW THE FOREIGN LAWBREAKERS OUT (as they should be.) No, the object is to milk more money from them!
It's perfectly OK if these foreign students are here illegally and planning to make trouble for America as long as we get MORE TUITION out of them!
The first people who should be thrown into internment camps are the suicidal maniacs running the universities.
The blue light is flashing. That means CongressMart has some great deals this month for all you illegal aliens out there.
Section 245 (i) of the nation's immigration law, which is essentially amnesty for illegal aliens, is now a blue-light special for terrorists.
Sure, we know there are lots of U.S. visas that a terrorist can use to get into the United States. But those require a little more work than this one.
You terrorists who are in America right now, this visa is the one for you.
If you got into America on a federal government-issued visa, there's no need to get this one.
But if you're a terrorist and you sneaked in, even if it was years ago, and have no legal right to be in America in the first place, this new visa is made to order.
Make your life in America more secure with a permanent resident visa through Section 245 (i).
Why cringe when the FBI, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the state highway patrol or even the local police go by?
And it's so easy to do.
First, you just have to prove that you are an illegal alien. That will be easy. Just say so on the government-supplied form.
Second, pay someone about $10 to give you a phony apartment rental receipt showing payment for the month of December 2000.
Third (and this is the really good part), don't worry about nasty background checks. CongressMart knows background checks are intrusive and insensitive.
America is an open country. So don't worry. Your history in your own country won't be checked!
The American Civil Liberties Union claims that you, an illegal alien, have a right to privacy. So be sure you don't tell anyone you are a terrorist and wreck a good thing.
Background checks are a thing of the last century. No more repugnant, privacy-invading background checks for us.
An open society means open borders at CongressMart. Anything goes!
Fourth, persuade an American to marry you. Or just pay an American to marry you.
Don't worry about this small detail, either. Lots of illegal aliens have entered phony marriages to get the benefits of U.S. citizenship. You can, too.
After two years, you can just get a divorce anyway. And after you do your next evil deed, you probably won't even have to worry about the divorce.
Fifth, pay the government a $1,000 processing fee.
Now this might sound like a lot, but it's a deal. Just ask some of your fellow terrorist friends who got into the United States last spring on Section 245 (i) visas. They will tell you that no terrorist in his right mind should pass up such a bargain.
If you are too busy planning your next attack and don't have time to get a 245 (i) visa, don't worry. The blue light will be flashing for a long time.
And there are always all those other great visas, such as student visas, that are just super for terrorists, too. So don't sweat it.
They will all be waiting for you, because CongressMart is not going to fix those visas, either, although few senators or representatives want their names publicly associated with the extension of 245 (i).
After attempts to attach the extension to major appropriations bills failed, the sponsors are now trying to call for a voice vote late at night, when most of their colleagues have gone home.
Hey, terrorists, isn't life in America great? Don't you just love shopping at CongressMart?
Since I'm an alum of CCNY, I know about the scum and human vermin that inhabit the place.
The terrorists struck the wrong buildings...
