OKLAHOMA CITY, December 10, 2001 - One Oklahoma senator says he knows "Operation Enduring Freedom" is just the beginning.
He says after Afghanistan it's on to Iraq for U.S. forces.
The reason: weapons of mass destruction. Weapons that could even hit Oklahoma City. That, the senator says, is why weapons inspectors are no longer there.
The bottom line is this, they kicked us out because they have a lot of stuff they don't want us to know about, said Sen. Jim Inhofe. And let me tell ya, we do know -- it's no longer classified -- they have been working on a nuclear warhead for some time.
They are trading technology and systems with countries like North Korea and China both of whom have a missle that will hit Oklahoma City from anywhere in the world. Takes 35 minutes to get here. We have no defense against it.
Sen. Inhofe also believes the U.S. should have taken care of the Saddam Hussein threat the first time.
Here is an excerpt of an article from the Boston Globe with more details:
US shifts command to Kuwait
Army positioned for troop buildup or wider conflict
By Bryan Bender, Globe Correspondent, Globe Staff, 12/10/2001
WASHINGTON - As US and Afghan forces pressed the battle against Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda, Pentagon officials said yesterday that they are moving the command of ground forces in the war on terrorism from the United States to the Persian Gulf, in the clearest sign yet that US military commanders are preparing for a protracted campaign in Afghanistan and beyond.
The Pentagon officials said the US Third Army, based at Fort McPherson, Ga., is moving its headquarters unit to a secure location in Kuwait, where it will oversee combat and humanitarian operations in Afghanistan. The Third Army command is capable of directing tens of thousands of combat troops if an increase in ground operations is deemed necessary.
''They will have command and control of the ground forces in Afghanistan,'' said the Central Command spokesman, Marine Corps Major Brad Lowell.
''They will also support the ground forces for the ongoing war against terrorism,'' he said.
That suggested that future military operations are being considered, once the Afghan operation winds down.
Positioning the headquarters in Kuwait is ''both practical and significant,'' said Andrew Krepinevitch, a retired Army colonel who is now director of the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, a Washington think tank.
''It will enable the US to have in place the command structure that will allow it to engage in protracted operations in Afghanistan, should it take longer than expected, and for whatever comes next, whether it be in Sudan, Somalia, or Iraq,'' he said. Those three countries were listed last week by General Tommy R. Franks, who as commander of the US Central Command is responsible for overseeing the war, when he was asked what other nations his military planners were focusing on. ....
I thought he was a good guy?
I want to know if Kuwait still remembers '91, or if they've went the way of the Saudis.
When was that classified?
Was it de-classified by the current admin?
Bush/Clinton or Ashcroft/Reno?
EVERYBODY KNOWS where the military is stationed, WHEN the military WANTS us to know. Saddam may or may NOT be NEXT... but this is NO national secret.
Sadam is ON THE LIST... W has been to see santa... and we gave him our list. We just don't really KNOW that Sadam is next... DISINFORMATION... two days ago we were going to go in and take on the radical muslims in indonesia... troops were being stationed... etc...
For God's sake, I would not be surprised if we weren't in Afghanistan at all, ever, but instead were doing something elsewhere, totally unrelated...
I HOPE Inhoffe is correct. I HOPE he is telling the truth. I hope we take out master whackjob saddamned insane before he launches a first strike on us... with Chinese assistance and their friends the Riadys.
but if we aren't, I hope so damned insane THINKS we are... Maybe his relatives will give him over to save their own skins.
DIE, you effing pig!
