I believe this must be the result of a vote, which obviously hasn't happened yet.

Not that I would mind--Tom is my Congresscritter.

Why do I get the feeling that the Dems are gonna get their butts kicked?

Armey is NOT resigning; he is simply not running for re-election next November.

DeLay will, most likely, get the post a year from now, provided the GOP retains the House.

No anyone but DeLay...he is a great conservative and a great whip...But he is not a great spokesman...We need someone like Chris Cox or Rob Portman...

Bump for Chris Cox!

Give the Whip to J.C. Watts, he could very well be our next speaker.

My thoughts exactly. He is easier to demonize than Armey, who's not exactly Mr. Suave himself.

If the economy doesn't pick up soon, the vote in 2003 will be to make him "minority leader."

I like Delay because he's fearless and calls a spade a spade. He's very reasonable during interviews and is very soft-spoken (LOL--the velvet hammer in action!). Apparently he's also a really good arm-twister behind the scenes. I actually think the more exposure he gets before the cameras, the less the mediots will be able to spin him as The Prince of Freaking Darkness.

The DNC hate-mongers have been demonizing Delay for years, and that hasn't kept him from being effective. So what are the DNC/media wackoes going do to him once he's Majority Leader--demonize him AGAIN? LOL!!!

J.C. Watts as House Speaker, Dr. Condi Rice as possible V.P. candidate-Dashole's head must be spinning around trying to figure out what to do..

DeLay is one of the few who's willing to confront the Democrats and not roll over the first time one of them has a harsh word to say about him. In short, he's one of the few with any backbone. Add to that the fact he's got some brains and doesn't need to have someone tell him what the right position is makes him one of the few who really matter.

If true, he's a great choice.

Yeah, DeLay works much better as Whip. It's perfect for him, and he needs to stay there. Chris Cox or Jennifer Dunn would be great choices.

I love J.C. but I don't think he would make a good Whip! Think he would be better off remaining as Conference Chair. Not to mention that the Conference has to vote after the election on their officers for the next term.

This is a premature announcement at best! I cannot see DeLay as the only person running for Majority Leader not to mention Armey is retiring not resigning so it would be December 2002 before any vote was taken unless CNN knows something about Armey resigning that no one else seems to!
