I remember when my "former" doctor wanted to give my 10 year old son this shot. That's one of many reasons why he is my former doc.

Hepatitis B (HBV) is transmitted by the exchange of body fluids e.g. Blood, Semen, Breast Milk and in some circumstances saliva. People most at risk include: Anybody who has unprotected sexual intercourse; IV drug users who share needles and syringes; Health care workers in contact with potentially contaminated blood or body fluids; Babies born to mothers with the virus; Anyone in intimate contact with the infected person.

Don't see why kids need this vaccination . . .

This issue has been a 'hot button' for me for years!!!!

And I felt this way ONLY because I was a Mom.....I had young children..(who are adults now)...and it simply didn't make sense.....

..It was truly a visceral reaction!!.....I didn't have any scientific basis at all..........it just seemed a political 'thing'....

I resisted pressure from my pediatrician for years...(no, I didn't change doctors, as the children had been going to him forever, one from birth, and otherwise they were excellent doctors).

I figured someone was putting extreme pressure on these doctors to push this............and so gave them some slack.

I simply said ...No...No...No...No.

Fortunately, my children were at an age then, that the schools had yet to reach the point of additional pressure....(they barely squeaked by)....

....Truly, it was a Mom's instinct NOT to let them get this.

Spread by body fluids..sex and sharing needles are the main form of transmission..

I worked in the addiction field (high risk) and refused to have the immunization....I was not sharing needles or " sleeing with "my clients..

I believe there is more risk in the vaccination than in not having it..(unless you are a prostitute that shares needles)

It has occurred to me that if someone would pose that kind of inane question then perhaps they either have an agenda that is, to me, distasteful, or, they haven't the requisite gray matter to participate in a forum such as this.

Do either of those scenarios fit you?

I felt forced to get my two nieces ( I am their guardian)the hep b vaccine or they could not go to school (including private Catholic schools) and I am not a woman who can be forced, or so I thought. I too did not understand how this was a disease that could be spread easily. I think what pushed me into compliance was the fact that their mother has hep c, has probably had hep b and gets strep throat all the time and they visit her on a regular basis. If I had it to do over again I would NOT allow them to have the hep b vaccine. Now they are pushing some other hep shot and something else and I said no to both.

Unfortunately there are large numbers of kids who do need the Hep B vaccine due to the government-sponsored explosion of the voting blocs to which their parents belong.

Those children didn't ask to be born to those state-created monsters and thus should be protected if possible by state intervention.

Good gravy! I expect a higher level of discourse on FR than this sort of junk science.

I don't think there is a single reason for kids to vaccinated, but those who work in hospitals and people working in a field similar to what you described should probably be vaccinated. As an adult, as long as you do not have a compromised immune system, you should have no problem with the vaccination.

In Pennsylvania one needs to sign an exemption form stating you have a strong moral belief against immunizations.
